Our Message to Voters 2016 - Do It For Mrs. Boynton-Robinson

By Richard C. Clement

Amelia Boynton Robinson after getting a left hook to the
face for trying to vote in Selma AL
If you are reading this before 8:00pm Nov 8th, 2016 and voted, thank you!  We hope you selected candidates for judge, school board, proposals, Federal, State, and local officials.  We want you to start from the back to the front with the Judges first, then save the best for last by voting straight Democratic. In the Michigan Supreme Court there is Judge Deborah Thomas and Frank Szymanski who will stop the 5-2 imbalance of Gov. Snyder Appointees to the Judiciary by making it a 4-3 majority.

It is on you the voter to do the right thing and vote in memory of people like Amelia Boynton Robinson, Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm of Rainbow Farms in Vandalia Michigan. When Gore lost the election in 2001 President Bush’s Attorney General John Ashcroft ordered the execution of these two at a marijuana farm by the FBI before September 11th happened and the seige at Rainbow Farms was forgotten. Through their sacrifice, 25 states have legalized the use of the plant for manufacturing and medicinal purposes.
If you are reading this on or after 8:00pm Nov 8th 2016 and, you did not exercise your right to vote, you let this woman get her face punched in for nothing. If Donald Trump becomes is your president, this will be considered a lawful act. Amelia Boynton Robinson was an activist in Selma Alabama who wanted to have a voice in the day to day activities of her community. Instead, she was punched in the mouth by a man who did not want her to vote for various reasons including the color of her skin.  One of the other reasons she ate a fist to the face was because the man did not want her to:
  1.          Choose her leaders in Federal, State, and Local Government
  2.          Determine the direction and leadership of public education
  3.         Determine where and what roads to be repaired with her money.
  4.         Determine the quality of life in her community

You let someone become president who would make this all legal again.
You let your opportunity to elect Judges to the District, Circuit, and State Courts who could have helped you out on a case regarding a traffic ticket, marijuana possession, personal protection order, wills, divorces, etc.

By not voting, you let someone become president who would have people like Gov. Chris Christie as United States Attorney General even though he directed his underlings to take a felony rap for him for blocking a bridge.

By not voting in the Michigan Supreme Court Race, You let Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette continue to pardon people who poisoned an entire city and, helped them to get their jobs back with the same department.

Your words don’t get anything done and, your elected leaders who have to power to affect your day to day quality of life don’t have to be bothered with your voice. Therefore if you want to hand the job to an unqualified carnival barking fat bastard, or another candidate who will be in a unique position to expunge the damage her husband did,  don’t boo, whine, or complain, VOTE!

Don’t make that mistake again and say that your vote does not count. And if you did not vote, then you get whatever is coming to you and you have to deal with it.

Vote or else.

Make Lives Matter by Showing up to Vote Early. Turn up the Turn Out this Summer in Detroit.

By  Friends of George Cushingberry  Jr.

Black Lives won’t matter if you do not show up to vote!  Councilmember Pro Tem Cushingberry is very adamant about that. If people want change they must speak up with their decision on who is going to run their government. The tragic events in Dallas, Baton Rouge, and Minneapolis this weekend is collateral damage of failing to engage in the direction of the leadership of your community.

When you vote, start from the back of the ballot so that you don’t miss out on the Judges, and ballot proposals that will determine where your money is going. Voting for judges is more important than voting for Presidents and Representatives because a judge has an immediate impact on your day to day life.

Issues of self-determination, education, law enforcement, and neighborhood economic empowerment can be settled at the ballot box. For instance we have one of the best County Prosecutors in the United States in Kym Worthy because she does not tolerate any B.S. in Wayne County from anyone. Therefore, we are on a mission to turn up the turnout for in August by encouraging people to vote early at the following locations:

These locations are open right now until August 1st, from 8am to 4pm to vote early and be done with it. If you are a Michigan resident and a felon, you can vote by just showing up TO VOTE. As long as you are not physically incarcerated you can vote early and be done with it. If you are 60 years old or more, you get a free pass to vote early absentee. Others people from ages 18 to 59 can vote early too.  For people who do not live in Michigan and require a picture ID, take your cell phone and shoot a selfie with your ballot in your hand and vote like your life depended on it.

Finally we are encouraging you to Get it Right in Black and White by declaring July 21, 2016 get out and vote early day.  The headquarters for the day will be Desmond's Elegant Affairs Lounge on 12924 Puritan Detroit MI 48227. We will be organizing and taking people to vote early at Wayne County Community College West Campus at 8100 W. Outer Drive Detroit MI 48227.

Then enjoy the evening at the White Party with Councilmember ProTem George Cushingberry Jr. and friends for an elegant evening of networking and socializing. Come and meet candidates who are running for office in while you are enjoying the elegant service of Business Owner Desmond Gibbons that has put time, effort, and money into his business.

Mr. Gibbons is the kind of business owner that we need in the City of Detroit and we strongly encourage you to support him and other entrepreneurs like the ones on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion and many more businesses in our city.

The 2016 American Election. The Life of Marc Emery, Canada's Prince of Pot Shares his Life Story in America's Drug War

By Richard C. Clement -  Marijuana Policy Analyst

Who is Marc Emery and why is his struggle is important to you as a Voter in 2016.

Mr. and Mrs.
Marc Emery
Marc Emery is a Canadian Citizen and a marijuana activist from Vancouver British Columbia. He was labeled a criminal and ranked as a major terrorist by Attorney General Alberto “I love to Waterboard Weedheads” Gonzales who was appointed by the George W. Bush Administration. His crime was shipping Marijuana seeds around the world including the United States of America. In 2009 and at the request of the United States, Marc was extradited and arrested from his home to spend five years in a Federal correctional facility in Mississippi. While he was in jail, another man by the name of Irving Rosenfeld from Florida was and still is getting the equivalent of 2 free ounces a month grown in the same state grown for his personal use. Mr. Rosenfeld is the ONLY person in the USA who can legally use Marijuana in all 50 states without criminal penalty and, has smoked over 115,000 joints all supplied by the United States of America at the University of Mississippi in Oxford MS.

August 12, 2014
Marc Emery spent 4 years in federal prison and earned 235 days of good conduct credit and was released on August 12th, 2014 at 4:00pm.  When international prisoners get released, they are sent back home to the closest city to where they lived.  In Marc Emery’s case, he was kicked out of the USA via Windsor Canada and dumped off at the tunnel entrance in handcuffs in a T-shirt, Shorts, a new pair of Nike sneakers, and $150 in US currency. The intent was to make him suffer and walk back to Vancouver British Colombia on Canada’s west coast. In other words he got kicked out of the country like Dolomite except he did not get the damn good meal.
Marc's Final Blog as a Drug War Prisoner in America

Weed Warrior and Mrs. Jodie Emery
When America had people like Harry Ainslinger conducting a racist drug war against black people in 1932, Canada had whackos like Prime Ministers Stephen Harper, William Lyon Mackenzie King and, author Emily Murphy who published a book in 1922 that started the ball rolling against marijuana. She created the current situation in Canada regarding the plant (CBC Canada Report on Why Weed was Made Illegal). To this date Canada has NO IDEA WHY Marijuana was made illegal in the first place. There were no seizures in Canada until they linked up with the American Mr. Anslinger who hated African Americans like Billie Holiday with a feverous passion while praising Judy Garland even though they both used heroin.

Mark Scott Emery
Why does Marc Emery’s life story matter to Americans?  It is what he did AFTER he was released. Mr. Emery carried no bitterness toward his captors and was very complimentary to them when he was released. However, he vowed to register one million Canadian Citizens to vote and to campaign against Prime Minister Stephen Harper who sent him to the dogs in America.  On October 19th   2015, his efforts paid off with the election of Justin Tredeau as the new prime minister of Canada.  Mr. Tredeau has vowed to legalize Marijuana in Canada at a Federal Level.  This is a game changer on many levels and one day you may be able to cross the border with your medicine just like you do with Vicodin, OxyContin, and aspirin. The revenue from Cannabis may help the United States to pay off the loan for the Gordie Howe Bridge from Canada earlier than 30 years on tolls. That is important to Detroiters and Americans who support the reform of marijuana laws.

This year do not take the power of your vote lightly because you will have a list of people who are running for elected office in the Michigan August 2nd, primary. Take note of who is running for Judge and the Michigan House of Representatives in Lansing.

You have the power in your hands to shape the future of your City, State, and Nation when it comes to Marijuana policy with your vote. Please make sure to start from the back of the ballot and work your way to the front. This is a guaranteed way to make sure you are electing Judges who support and think like you. No one should go to jail for a plant and it is time to turn up the turnout and vote early and by absentee.  No Detroit based Marijuana business should be subjected to a Drug Free Zone restriction in another municipality like Dearborn or in Counties like Oakland and Macomb. No Pastor, Reverend or Drug Free Zone School in Oakland or Macomb County on 8 mile, especially in Royal Oak Township should be dictating ANYTHING to someone in Detroit regarding a marijuana business. Wayne County has its own set of rules and a county executive, prosecutor, and Sherriff that is doing a good job.

So stay tuned and look for the official 420 slate of potential candidates who will support laws in Detroit, Michigan, and America because, we want progressive non-partisans, republicans and democrats who want to end the War on Weed.

Ending the War on Pot in the City of Detroit with Democracy at the Ballot Box - Protecting the Right to Vote by Referendum

By Richard C. Clement

On Thursday December 17, 2015 at 1:15pm, the Detroit City Council will be voting to implement changes in Ordinance number #61 that will eliminate up to 95% of the Marijuana Dispensary businesses in the City of Detroit.  The reasons for their removal is that a number of community groups and Church pastors say that these places are illegal according to the State of Michigan.  This is the same State of Michigan that poisoned the water in Flint Michigan, committed Voter Fraud by re-establishing the Emergency Manager by making it referendum proof, and decimated public education with under-performing academies and a bunch of MBA’s running the education system instead of educators.

Another reason for the “swift passage” of this ordinance is that a sitting City Council-member has been promised a financial interest in a marijuana facility if this ordinance passed as written. The Council-member will get a 10% stake in a facility called “The Reef”.  A direct quote from the article states the following:

“I was there, and I can personally attest to the fact that Terrence Mansour is working on a deal to give a Detroit city council member and their significant other a 10 percent cut of the action from his dispensary to pass these new rules,” Brikho said. “It’s a pay-to-play system that is being created by these dirty, corrupt bureaucrats and the fat cats like Mansour who own them. This is a heist that is taking place. It’s criminal.”

After the national embarrassment of indictments, convictions, and issues of public trust, the only honorable thing to do is let the Citizens of Detroit vote on the ordinance in the general election in November 2016 through the referendum process. Council-member Pro Tem George Cushingberry Jr. believes that the Citizen Electors of the City of Detroit should be making that decision to restore trust and integrity in Detroit and it's elected officials.

Objections to ordinance

  1. Unreasonable Hours of Operation. Forcing businesses to close at 8pm based on unsupported data may be un-constitutional and may be challenged in a court of law.
  2. Unreasonable excuses to prevent consumption onsite of Marijuana after purchase or growing. If onsite consumption is allowed for Hookah Bars, Micro Breweries, and Cigar Bars, there is no excuse to prevent onsite consumption of marijuana on private property with the permission of the owner. Prosecuting these types of “crimes” is a waste of law enforcement, and legal resources of the City of Detroit.
  3. Removal of Drive through businesses based on unsubstantiated data and the faulty theory of the late Harry Ainslinger 1st Director of the US Drug Enforcement Agency(DEA)
  4. Arbitrary and capricious zoning distances for MMJ businesses and neighborhoods that will Zone 90% of all marijuana businesses out of business while liquor stores and churches are allowed to cluster with no extra requirements.
  5. Prohibiting Waivers for Marijuana Businesses
Solutions:
  1. 24hr operations with a special permit license
  2. Removal of onsite consumption restrictions from the ordinance
  3. Special Permit to operate a Drive through. These places should be zoned like a bank or drugstore like CVS, Walgreens, etc.
  4. Allow a special use permit for cultivation in commercial areas.
    1. B4 industry, square footage
  5. 1000 Feet from a school under the US Drug Free Zone laws
  6. Community Benefit Agreement with the Marijuana facilities promising to hire Detroit residents, and help keep up the neighborhood adding to the uplift of the quality of life for residents. Including allowing business owners to select a school and perform 20 hrs. community service.
A ballot initiative to replace this zoning ordinance will give Detroit citizens a perfect opportunity to conduct business as long as they are being good citizens. Currently there are an untold number of Hair Salons, Liquor Stores, and churches that are right next to each other. Some pastors welcome the new business as it has been treated as a blight remover and employer.

The work being performed by these Marijuana business owners on their property rivals HGTV and it is something that should be honored because it raised the value of the property. For people who say that these businesses are “dumping” on Detroit, look at what they are dumping. Some of the revenue from these places could be used to fix public education and fund school districts like Highland Park Michigan, Inkster, and Detroit Public Schools for example.

Medical Marijuana has been the best blessing the City has ever had because lots of investors in state and out of state are headed to Detroit and Michigan to find property. Empty building that were not being used are being re-purposed and paying property taxes to the City, unlike Churches that are open and/or under construction unopened.

People, we need your support for letting the people vote on this issue.  We strongly encourage owners and supporters to contact Detroit City council-members (click here) and let them know how you feel about it.

The citizens of Detroit have too much sense and wisdom to be bought off from special interest groups, and un-informed clergy members who are stuck in the draconian era of 1939 of prohibition and don’t take the time to read. We are issuing an open challenge to Pastor Marvin Winans to visit one of these esteemed facilities right next to his church at Miles Green Acers on Woodward and 7 mile next to the Doughnut shop.  We will make sure that no one bites him and we hope that he and his pastor friends visit the ones on Woodward Avenue.

We want the law to respect the will of the people instead of one person on the church steeple. We are a democracy not a theocracy!

Let the People Vote!

City Charter Bug Fix Review: Barrow's Ballot is in Good Hands - Press Release

Dear Tom,

The next general election is August 2016 and at that time the Barrow plan would be in full effect.  The plan requires that two paper voting receipts be printed at every voting location when the polls close after 8pm.  One with a signature that is taped on the wall at the voting location. The other receipt is sent with the votes to the Elections Bureau for total vote counting.  Both receipts require a signature on them.  If there is a close election then a recount would be required by law otherwise the votes are certified by the clerk.

The question is, how hard is it for a printer to print two sheets of paper?

This concept is very workable before the 2016 August Primary Election. The next question is WHY you want to print the paper in the first place. What is wrong with a voting scoreboard with real time results that you can access on your phone, tablet, laptop, google glass, wristwatch, etc? How about voting online one day? If you must print two tally sheets at the end of the night, then do what you have to do.

It is the position of Councilmember Cushingberry to review this legislation with the Elections Commission and, personnel versed in Information Technology skills like network management, data security, and system design.  Tom Barrow’s work will not be in vain and the initiative to have fair and accurate accounting of votes will be implemented by the next general election.

The real fix is to the bug in the charter that is forcing Councilmember Janee Ayers to run for office in 2016 and 2017 because of the departure of Saunteel Jenkins. The wording in the charter says that a vacancy has to be filled  by voting in the next general election.  It should read that a vacancy has to be filled when the vacant position is up for election at the end of  it's 4 year term

Fact: Candidate Jenkins was elected for a 4 year job. She left early for a new job so Janee Ayers was appointed to fill out the remaining time.

Fixing this bug in the charter would save a lot of time and money in the elections bureau and, address both issues at the same time. If Mr. Barrow is interested in taking on this task please set up a meeting, call, or do what you do to get something started.

Thank you for your service to our community Tom.
Sincerely,
Richard Clement - Legislative Aide to Councilmember Pro Tem Cushingberry

How to Comply with New Voter Photo ID Laws with your Selfie Stick and Cell Phone

by The Friends of George Cushingberry Jr.

With your cell phone, you can make your vote count if you do not have proper ID. All you need is your Cell Phone, Selfie Stick, and a ballot to cast.  As soon as you are denied the right to vote because of lack of proper id, you then demand to vote with a provisional ballot.  Ask to take a selfie with the precinct captain with your ballot in hand, shoot picture and cast your vote. You may want to shoot a picture of the ballot while you cast it if you feel like it.  When court action is necessary to have your vote counted because of your identity is being challenged, you have video evidence to present to dispute the claim.  Voter fraud must be stopped and, this method will aid in your voting right being protected by law, and your vote being counted.

Obama Impeachment Hearings and Electorial College Changes are on the table in 2015. Vote Early!

by Friends of Cushingberry

"You must remember in November what a Lame Duck did in December - Vote Straight Democratic"
      - District 2 resident at the 1917 Bistro on Livernois Avenue of Fashion -

Mayor Duggan says:
Give Schauer the Power and,
Vote Straight "D" for prosperity!
Impeachment hearings for President Obama?  Changing the Electoral College in 2016 for the purpose of awarding a state to a candidate by US congressional districts instead of a statewide popular vote?  Under this plan, it would have been Presdent's McCain and Romney. This is in the plan when everyone stays home and does not vote.  If the GOP remains in charge of State Executive Offices, Water Authorities, Pension Boards, US House of Representatives, and US Senate, etc, the process of Government will come to a grinding halt.  Instead of allocating money for fixing and upgrading infrastructure assets like Roads, the Electrical Grid, Water and Sewers, money will be diverted for countless impeachment hearings. If the current leadership in Lansing is successful, the tax credit for healthcare will be eliminated. This means that your monthly premium will increase from $0.08 to over $400 per month.

By voting straight for Democratic, you will allow President Obama to continue to lower gas prices in the middle of the conflict with ISIL to defund their ability to pay for their weapons of mass destruction. You will allow the President to create jobs through investment into public projects to fix and build new transportation assets like bridges and regional rail. You will allow funding for projects like commercial air service at City Airport.  These and many other benefits are in jeopardy before the President leaves office on Friday, January 20th 2017 at 12:00pm.

If you don’t vote, come December the lame duck will get pumped up on Viagra and Steroids, and become a Mighty Duck. By changing the laws on a December morning in 2012 at 4:20am, additional right to work laws, emergency managers, and the elimination of early voting will become law. Prisoners will continue to be fed Maggots by private prison companies with no accountability and protection from prosecution. Roads like the Davidson Freeway Service Drive will continue to be a shining example of how not to maintain one. This road is very close to being un-drivable because of the large craters in the road.

Your vote counts and by being a registered voter, a citizen has the ability to change the law through a ballot initiative. When the Governor and the Legislature refuse to act in the interest of the people, registered voters can get enough valid signatures on an initiative petition to force a vote in the next upcoming election. If the voters approve in the majority, the petition becomes a law. Laws like a statewide flat rate insurance, 30 year road construction standards, and other initiatives can be successful through a ballot initiative.

To protect the law you must start voting from the bottom and get to the top. Judges to protect the law are very important, State Supreme Court candidates like Debra Thomas, Richard Bernstine, and Wayne County Probate Court Candidate Rohn Mitchell will make decisions that will protect the basic human dignity and rights of individuals who deserve fairness. Therefore it is your obligation and duty to register AND vote in this and every election early by absentee. Early voting starts on October 6th, 2014 and ends on Nov 3rd 4:30pm from 8am to 4pm at the Detroit Elections Bureau 2978 W. Grand Boulevard Detroit MI 48202 for a new direction, and protection for the people.

Taking Back Detroit One Law and Vote at a time. Removing the Mgr. of the Emergency Mgr.

by The Friends of George Cushingberry Jr.

Go Wings!
September 25, 2014 was a historic day for the City of Detroit.Starting with the ground breaking ceremonies for the new Detroit District, the news regarding the new Red Wings neighborhood development hosted by the Illich family will bring nothing but positive results for the entire tri-county region. Our friend George gave a positive and informative speech on the history of the Detroit District. He paid homage to pioneers like John Sinclair who helped revitalize historic structures like the Fox Theater and, how the once idle land will be transformed into a new business district with a user friendly, handicap accesible Hockey arena.

Vote to remove EM Kevyn Orr Result
9 Yes  0 No
Later that evening the leadership of the City of Detroit redesigned the contract of Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr to a special attorney in charge of bankruptcy. This will be his only responsibility as a contract employee of the City of Detroit. All management of City business is now in the hands of City Council and the Mayor’s office. The Police Department will be under an elected board of review as the Federal oversight has ended for the Detroit Police Department. This seven member board is composed of a representative from each district. This board will be responsible for all Detroit Police hiring, budgeting and, discipline issues.

Council President Jones and
Mayor Duggan sign Detroit's
Declaration of Independence
There is a saying that you should not hate the player but hate the game. Mr. Orr took the money and ran like the Road Runner saying beep, beep. He has indicated that he wants to return home to Washington DC with the family and that is awesome.  He will have the ability to work from home and move out of the Book Cadillac Hotel, saving the City a few dollars. Instead of hating on Mr. Orr, you want to give HIS boss Governor Rick Snyder an employee evaluation with your vote at the ballot box this October until November 4th.

Before you mark your ballot ask yourself these questions:
  • Did you approve the working instructions given to Mr. Orr to cut healthcare cost to retirees
  • Did you approve the working instructions given to Mr. Orr to tax pensions?
  • Did you approve of the position of the Emergency Manager being appointed AFTER you told the State of Michigan NO the first time?
  • Did you approve the Right to Work law?

You have the power and privilege to terminate the contract of the contractors who created this mess with your Vote.  This would be the current occupants of the Governors, Attorney General’s and, Secretary of States offices. With this change at the top, the people will have the ability to appoint sound leadership in all of the boards and authorities. Boards like Water Authorities and Belle Isle will be under new management with Mark Schauer, Mark Totten, and Godfrey Dillard as your Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State leading the way.

Therefore, please take the time to register and VOTE.  You have until October 4th to register to vote in the November 4th election. That means the following:
  • If you will be 18 years of age or older by November 4th, 2014 11:59pm
  • If you are NOT incarcerated at a jail or prison
  • If you have a Felony Record
You have the legal right to cast your vote on November 4th or, October if you vote early at Wayne County Community College East or West campus.

"For the first time ever, Detroiters will be able to request absentee ballots online," said Lon Johnson, Michigan Democratic Party Chair. "Clearly voters of Michigan are adopting absentee voting as a way of casting their ballot - as evidenced by the fact that more than 27 percent of votes cast in Michigan's 2012 election were absentee ballots.”
Once residents request the ballot online the ballot will be mailed.  The last day to request a ballot is Saturday, August 2, at 2 p.m.

Currently it is common practice for many clerks across Michigan to receive requests to vote absentee through a number of secure options, including fax, mail and hand delivery.

Resolution

Resolved: The Detroit City Council supports the renewal of the operational millage to fund the Detroit Public Library. They also approved the proposed ballot language submitted by the Detroit Library Commission for forwarding to the Detroit Election Commission for placement on the August 5,2014 primary ballot.
