Congratulations to Abraham Aiyash State Rep District 4

Congratulations to Abraham Aiyash for his victory in the race to replace the late State Representative Isaac Robinson in District 4.  Coming in first out of 13 candidates took a lot of hard work and effort from his team.

Abraham Aiyash District 4
www.voteaiyash.com

Tawanna Simpson ran a tactical campaign and placed 3rd out of 15 candidates. Congratulations to her on the effort she put into the campaign.  We endorsed Tawanna and, our efforts fell short of our goal.  Team Simpson wants to thank all of those who voted for her.

Issues like expungement of marijuana crimes, Detroit City Airport expansion to include an educational and commercial complex are some of the causes that Isaac would have fought for. We hope you do a even better job that he did to improve our neighborhood.

We wish him well and, we hope that Mr Aiyash will work well to represent the best interests of the neighborhood..

Vote straight Blue on or before November 3rd, 2020 8pm.

Tawanna Simpson For State Representative District 4

Statement of Endorsement:

On or before August 4th 2020 and, on or before November 3rd 2020, please vote to send Ms. Tawanna Simpson to Lansing as the new State Representative for the 4th House district.

She will represent the constituents interests by being a voice on issues that are vital to the district.

She will continue Issac's fight to keep the district from being a dumping ground for toxic waste from businesses.

She pledges to finish the work of Rep Robinson on House bill 5120 on expungement of criminal records) by working with Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel to lobby the Michigan Senate to pass the bill for a signature from Governor Gretchen Whitmer to make it state law.

She is totally committed to auto insurance reform that will adjust rates to relieve Michigan from economic distress. Insurance rates are a driving force behind issues from employment because of a lack of transportation choices.

She will fight to fix the damn roads in the district on advocating for road equity at the county and city level.  There is no excuse for the condition of Hamtramck Drive with bumps and potholes, while General Motors reinvests into the Detroit/Hamtramck plant.

With her prior experience as an elected Detroit School Board member, she will fight the war on poverty through supporting teachers promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math careers for K-12 youth.

She supports training for careers for people who want to work in skilled trades like electricians, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and other fields of study after the K-12 years.

She was a valuable aide to Representative Isaac Robinson on many issues and is deeply involved in community affairs. She has been endorsed by former Rep Rosemary Robinson because of her commitment to community and her work ethic.

For these reasons and more, the Friends of Cushingberry endorse the candidacy of Ms. Tawanna Simpson.

Her name will appear twice on your ballot and, make sure to mark both entries. One mark is to fill the remaining time of the late great Representative Issac Robinson and, the other mark is for a two year term of office that Isaac was going to get reelected for.

As soon as you get your ballot, make your mark on the name of Tawanna Simpson to be thee next State Representative for the 4th House District.

She will make us proud.

Sexual Harassment Is Gender Neutral Hyper-Political Warfare In 2018

Press Release:
The Committee To Elect George Cushingberry Jr State Senator District 2

The charges made by Ms. Wiley are an attempt to use the Sexual Harassment / #MeToo movement to shake down the Citizens of Detroit and, to derail the efforts of George Cushingberry Jr to become the next State Senator in District 2. As she has done before with the City Council primary election of August 2017, she is working as a political operative for other candidates on the ballot. Her only purpose now is to distract the voters enough to elect a candidate, who will maintain the status quo and, forced to resign, leaving the residents of District 2 without any representation again.

Cleo W. Hale and Former City Council President Pro Tempore George Cushingberry Jr.

We believe wholeheartedly that the accusations are false and misleading for individual financial gain. We also agree with the City law department regarding Ms. Wiley's employment because before during and after the Florida trip, she has continually contacted potential suitors developing a close relationship with some of them within the state.

Employees who have worked for George Cushingberry know that he is un-bought, un-bossed and, not for sale. Given the scrutiny of working for the public, transparency is a moral tenant and, a rule of doing business in public and private.

Kanye Was Right!  Don't matter if you are Black or White

While serving as the Council President Pro Tempore and, chairman of the Budget, Finance, and Audit committee, one of the things that was put in place was a law department to protect the people from frivolous lawsuits. Frequent lawsuit filers are a drain on budgets public and private and, divert precious resources away from needs such as employee health care costs and, creating jobs.

It is our strong opinion that after all of the facts are examined, the best interests of the taxpayers in the City of Detroit will be upheld by the US District Court and, the case dismissed.

Sending George Cushingberry back to Lansing as a State Senator guarantees that when he gets there, he will work on:
  • Getting Michiganders common sense auto insurance rates
  • Public Education revitalization through a policy of stressing literacy and training opportunities for youth in aviation careers and skilled trades.
  • A revitalized Detroit City Airport with general and commercial air service bringing needed revenue to the City.
  • Re-balancing the State Budget to increase funding of Mental Health facilities, public education, and decreasing the Corrections budget through the expunging of low level drug crimes
  • Curtailing abuse of Opioids, prescription drugs and other mood altering medicine sold by pharmacies for profit.

Show up and Vote all Summer Long from now until August 7th, and again on November 6th, 2018 and lets get it right this time!!

Forgive The Lame Duck! Vote in the August 2018 Primary Election

By Richard C. Clement
Precinct Delegate 92 - Democrat

If you support change in Lansing and, want to protect your vote from being ripped off, you must  show up and vote in the August 7th,  primary election starting June 22nd, 2018, at the Detroit Elections Bureau on 2978 Grand Boulevard Detroit MI 48202.  When you vote in the Michigan August Primary, you are voting to prevent a Lame Duck from changing the Laws in Lansing this December after you vote in November.  From the illegally enacted Marijuana moratorium in the City of Detroit, to the announced intent of Michigan State Senator Rick Jones and his friends to undo all Marijuana legalization in the December lame duck session, you must show up and vote!

The Chairman
House Appropriations Committiee 2008-2010

Vote for candidates who have your best interests at heart and share your values. Don’t be confused by watching Fox News or any other troll outfit that manufactures news from false statements and innuendo.  Voters, please take the time to look at each candidate’s history on issues like, improving reading literacy, crime reduction, Marijuana reform, financial justice for state employees, and where they want to invest your tax money.  This includes the oversight and management of the funds against measured goals specified by law.

By voting in the primary election, you will prevent the establishment of another Emergency Manager policy that has done so well for the State of Michigan these last 8 years. Just look at the examples of their fine work statewide, especially in Flint and the Detroit Public Schools.

Reverse the Criminal Neglect to our Youth and City
#FreeKDET

By electing a warrior like George Cushingberry Jr as your State Senator in District 2, Emergency Managers like Roy Roberts and others will brought before hearings to explain why he shut down Benjamin O. Davis High School to transfer the FCC and FAA certification programs to the West Michigan Aviation academy in Grand Rapids Michigan injuring the educational opportunities for Muslim, Black and Latino children to study aviation as a career.

Allowing vultures for profit to pick winners and losers out of our children’s education is an in-excusable, criminal act upon our youth. We want and demand restitution from the spot of the oppression by re-investing into teachers and students.

Elect Dana Nessel - Michigan Attorney General

Furthermore, when you vote for Dana Nessel as your next Michigan Attorney General, you will allow her office to file criminal charges against all of these Emergency Managers so that the healing can begin. Healing will include the immediate transfer of state employee defined contributions to employee defined benefits. By doing this for current employees in state and local governments, monies are protected from the unpredictability of the stock markets going up and down. Restoration and respect for the State Constitution will allow a revamped Attorney General’s office to expunge all marijuana crimes for all Michigan citizens.

Vote early and get it done before you go on vacation for the summer, going away to school, or other reasons you have for not being in town.  Do not let anyone tell you that your vote does not count because they are wrong! Your vote in the August primary will help stop voter suppression in advance. Therefore please take the time to vote because your future depends on it.

From June 22nd until November 6th, 2018 7:59:59pm.

Forgive the Lame Duck in Advance! Vote Now!

Starting A Marijuana Business in the City Of Detroit - Green Jobs and Opportunity for All

By  Richard C. Clement  - Marijuana Policy Consultant  - CSystems

With a loud voice from the community, the City of Detroit will begin taking applications from the City Marijuana Facilities Website as soon as possible.  Under the leadership of Chief Information Officer Beth Niblock, the task will be accomplished promptly. Until then potential applicants shall immediately file with the State of Michigan for a License to Operate.  For a $6000 filing fee, you will be assured a spot in line for the City of Detroit Opt-In process.

Until then, concerned citizens and potential business owners are cordially encouraged to contact the Office of Mayor Mike Duggan and, the nine members of the Detroit City Council to support their Information Technology department staff to get it done much earlier than June 15th.

The City law department does not have any legal grounds to impede this process because, Judge Robert Colombo vacated the restraining order from VK Holdings LLC on January 4th, 2018. This lawsuit is a failed attempt to wait on the announcement from Attorney General Jeff Sessions to restart the war on weed. The old ordinance was created by a few special interest groups who want to squeeze other applicants out by outrageous rules and regulations.
To save the taxpayers of Detroit time and money in legal fees and, re-direct some of the funding for technology support,  the Board Of Zoning Appeals and BSEED will go through the list of addresses that were rejected under the new ordinance and provide leave of appeal to affected business owners under the new ordinance.

Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey will work for weed.
YES INDEED!.

If you are desiring to get into the Marijuana business in Detroit this is what you need to do:

We want to thank Attorney Michael D. Stein (Website MichiganRadio.org) for his due diligence on the legal side of this effort and, if you have an attorney now,  they need to get to work on your behalf. As of this writing, at least 15 current and potential owners have filed a lawsuit against the City of Detroit Law and Information Technology department in Wayne County Circuit Court for insubordination.  One hour of time spent by a computer programmer analyst on the website will save the taxpayers lots of money and help generate jobs.

Firefighters and Sheriffs in Michigan Benefit from Legal Marijuana Sales with Proposed New Legislation

By Richard C. Clement - Friends of Cushingberry

"Legislation will fund County Governments and Public Servants"

Michigan’s effort to legalize marijuana by legislative procedure is going to benefit counties, substance abuse agencies, and local governments.  The following package of bills passed by the Senate will create job opportunities for software vendors to bid on supplying the Marijuana Tracking System for all Cannabis business must have to continue to participate in the program. When it becomes operational, your card will be used to track the amount of marijuana each patient has purchased over time.  You will be able to possess 2.5 ounces of usable marijuana at any time in the State of Michigan.

The major beneficiary of these set of bills is the State of Michigan's 1st Responder Presumed Coverage Fund at the tune of $500,000 from the proceeds of the Medical Marijuana Program.  The next beneficiaries are the County Governments like Wayne County who will receive 35% of all revenue from Marijuana sales. Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napolean and the 82 other county sheriffs will enjoy this cash cow on the backs of Marijuana users as soon as it becomes the law. Local governments will receive 25% of the proceeds from Marijuana for their use.

Cities like Detroit could use the money for things like rebuilding recreation centers and create green jobs in manufacturing and, education. Cities will also have the abilities to place caps on the number of businesses in their locality. Caps must be anti-discriminatory and be in compliance with Federal Zoning Laws.

The legislation places a 50 ounce limit for each Medical Marijuana Center with a valid license. Currently the City of Detroit  Building Safety and Engineering Department (BSEED) is granting conditional waivers to new marijuana business owners on the grounds that the owner works to bring the location up to code. BSEED is very generous and confident that business owners will do the right thing to be legal.

A brief analysis of the bills are as follows:

HB 4209 - license and regulate medical marijuana growers, processors, provisioning centers, secure transporters, and safety compliance facilities;  This bill creates a marijuana licensing board, an automated tracking system, an advisory panel, provisions for forfeiture, defines tax rate,  and sets civil fines. This bill grants powers to State and Local Governments to define duties regarding Marijuana in the community

HB 4210 – Gives specific definition of the content of medibles (non smoke able) Marijuana. Also spells out procedures for violations of the provisions of the card:
  •       16 Ounces of Solid Medible Marijuana (brownies, cakes,  etc.)
  •          7 Grams for using in a vaporizing pen
  •       72 Fluid Ounces of liquid marijuana

Outdoor growing is allowed as long as the medicine is out of sight from the street, in a secure location and locked.  Security could be a dog, camera and lights so that other people don’t rip you off. Companion Senate Bill 0141 introduced by Senator Coleman Young seeks to address the inequities of this bill like vehicle transport and other issues that must be worked on by the House of Representatives for a compromise.

HB 4827 – This bill will allow software companies to bid on the Marijuana Tracking System because it defines the specifications for the developers to use in designing and implementing the Statewide system.  This bill will track the sales of marijuana between patients and the growers who interact with retail sites.

In summary, these pieces of legislation have a lot to be desired. The transport law that was enacted by former State Senator Virgil Smith has been declared unconstitutional by courts in the State because it exceeds the current Michigan Medical Marijuana Law.  The three tier system for growing will open up opportunities for growers, testers, and manufacturers.  Local law enforcement will be released to go after Meth and Heroin users who are really destroying the neighborhoods and the country with their drug of choice.

Michigan Supreme Court
Candidate Judge Deborah Thomas
www.judgedeborahthomas.com
To fix this you must vote in the upcoming general election by turning over the ballot and voting for Judges that will make the proper change like Judge Deborah Thomas will if she is elected to the Michigan State Supreme Court. You have until October 11th, 2016 to register to vote in the November 8th General Election.  You can start voting on September 24th, 2016 at 5 locations in the City of Detroit or, your local City Clerk’s office if you don’t live in the City of Detroit.

The Cost of Reopening Johnson Center - Starting from Ground Zero to Completion by 2018

By Richard C. Clement
     Friends of George Cushingberry Jr.

Johnson Recreation Center was built in the 1950’s on the corner of Cherrylawn and Chippewa in Detroit Michigan. The Center sits on Joe Louis Park that is maintained by the City of Detroit General Services Division. This historical structure was the only place that allowed African Americans to swim in the City of Detroit.  This was an outdoor pool that was easily accessible to citizens in Northwest Detroit and Southern Oakland County.  (Click Here for Park History). The pool was modified by building new construction around the current structure. Now citizens in the neighborhood are restless as this once great and historical structure sits empty and being used for a storage dump.

Bringing Johnson Center online in its current condition will cost $750,000 and the same amount per month to maintain. This is because of the plumbing and other code violations that are now out of compliance with today’s building code and energy saving standards.

To demolish the old center will cost $250,000 and, the proposed new center will have an 8 lane pool and diving board.  Improvements like energy efficient, tank-less water heaters, motion sensors attached to lights and, self-generating power with solar cells with lower monthly operational costs. This plan includes an 8 lane Olympic sized pool with 3 and 10 meter diving boards at a cost of $180 per square foot. Additionally a new Gym will contain rooms for boxing, arts, and community meetings.

This project will help to restore our neighborhood instead of Downtown/Midtown Detroit.

The procedure of demolishing the old and rebuilding the new will result in lower monthly maintenance costs that over time cost much less to maintain. To finance this project Councilmember Pro-Tem George Cushingberry Jr. is recommending that we approach the Department of Housing and Urban Development for up to $20 million in funding and, seek grants from philanthropic organizations.  Johnson Center may be eligible for historic status by the City and, that will give us access to more money for the project.

If you are interested in signing the petition to reopen the center please click here to sign the petition in support of revitalizing Johnson Center for the neighborhood.

By signing this petition you are putting your elected officials on notice that we want something done and we want results now.  According to Dwight Smith, President of the 8 Mile Old Timers Association, they have over 1700+ signatures now and we are using this list to show how much support is in the surrounding neighborhood for the center.

Feel free to voice your concerns to my fellow City Council Members and Mayor Mike Duggan. We want you to contact your State Senator Ian Conyers, State Representatives LeslieLove, Laytonya Garrett, and Wendell Byrd in Lansing MI to get on board with the program. We feel that the best way to start taking back our neighborhoods is, through the re-establishment of the neighborhood rec-centers because, there is never enough money to invest in our children.

State Reps Introduce Bill 5445 to Eliminate Local Marijuana Ordinances

By Richard C. Clement
      Marijuana Policy Analyst

Today State Rep. Leslie Love(D), Wendel Byrd(D), and Latanya Garrett(D) introduced House Bill #5445 changing the Michigan Medical Marijuana Law to prevent citizens in Cities and Townships from enacting referendums and petitions to modify local marijuana ordinances.  This bill was introduced to stop the referendum that was filed by the Citizens for Sensible Cannabis Reform to place the two Marijuana Ordinances on the August 2nd, 2016 ballot in the City of Detroit.

This bill will be a prototype for every City and Township in the State of Michigan regardless of the feelings of the citizens. Raids like the ones in Gaylord MI and the seizing of medibles will become the normal course of business for every city and township in Michigan.

Rep. Love is hoping to fast-track this legislation with the help of Republicans for a coveted signature from Governor Rick Snyder in 90 days.  If this is signed into law, then all Cities and Townships will have their ordinances null and voided. A citizens rights to address your government and get redress of your grievances will be eliminated.  If you have any comments on this bill please click on the names to let them know how you feel.

Marijuana Information for the City of Detroit - Quick Links to Answer Your Questions About What is Going On

by Richard C. Clement
     Marijuana Policy Analyst

The following links are reference links to information regarding the management of Marijuana in Detroit Michigan.  These links point to maps and ordinance information that may be helpful to you. Please be aware that Ordinance #61 is being re-written as a ballot question to the voters which may affect the implementation date of March 1st, 2016. If enough voters decide to make it a ballot question, the ordinance is null and void until the issue is decided on August 2, 2016 by the voters.

Please click on the following links for additional information.

From Councilmember James Tate's website:

"The above map illustration of the zoning regulations for medical marijuana facilities contained in Councilman Tate's proposed amendment to Chapter 61 of the 1984 Detroit City Code. The bold portions of the map indicate which areas of the City would be eligible for medical marijuana facilities under the proposed zoning regulations. It is important to note that medical marijuana facilities would be restricted from being located within 2,000 radial feet of another facility.

If you have any additional questions or need further clarification, please feel free to contact Councilman Tate's office by phone at (313)224-1027 or by email at councilmembertate@detroitmi.gov "

Marijuana Management in Motown - Showtime is Tue. Feb 2nd, 2015 @ 10am

by Richard C. Clement - Marijuana Policy Analyst

On Tuesday Feb 2nd at 10 am, the new Detroit Marijuana Ordinance and Licensing procedure will be demonstrated before a full body of the City Council.  When implemented, this will significantly reduce the number of Marijuana Compassion Centers in the City of Detroit.  Currently there are over 150 places of business operating in the city. When this ordinance takes effect On March 1st, there may be a little as 5 of them in the City with restrictions so tight that you will be able to get a Gun much easier than some Ganja.

Supporters and owners of Compassion Centers who object to provisions of the ordinance feel that this should be a ballot question placed to ALL of the people. One of the major objections is the provision of 1000 feet from a church or religious institution. Some religions use Marijuana as holy sacrament as a primary part of their religious practice. In this case an owner can get a use permit from BSEED as a religious institution in zones B1, B2, B4,B5, B6 business districts as a matter of right. In other cases the occupancy permit of a church can be challenged in a hearing at the Zoning Board.  There are a number of churches that are improperly zoned and do not qualify under Ordinance #61.

Supporters of drive through and other marijuana services also feel that this issue should be decided by the voters. Therefore, and at the request of Council member Pro Tem George Cushingberry Jr, the Law Department was directed to develop ballot language so that voters can decide the issue in November of 2016 at the ballot box. With the gathering of the signatures of 5000 registered voters in the City of Detroit, the implementation of this ordinance will be suspended until a vote is taken.

Corporation Council Attorney Melvin “Butch” Hollowell and staff  have been crafting the language for the petition since October 2015. Corporation council staff has promised Pro Tem Cushingberry that language will be available to the public on or before February 2nd,  2016.

Meanwhile organizations like MI-Legalize and Abrogate Michigan have Ballot Initiative petitions that will alleviate the issues with the City to make a fair and equitable law regarding Marijuana in Michigan. The Marijuana industry has been a boon to places like Lowes and Home Depot for construction material. Work for Union Electricians, Carpenters and Bricklayers are in demand because of the new ganja-peneuer industry. Empty buildings in the City are being used instead of open to being looted and set fire by people like squatters who use open flame to keep warm.

The only restrictions that the Marijuana community agrees with is the 1000 foot barrier from a school.  Otherwise, everything else about the ordinance is up for a ballot vote by the people.

Stay tuned to Detroit City Council live stream at www.detroitmi.gov  Channel 10 on February 2nd, 2016 at 10 am to view the presentation.

Detroit/Wayne County Property Taxes for 2016 - Plan Now to Save Later

By Richard C. Clement

Many Detroit Residents received certified letters from the Wayne County Treasurer in December of 2015 regarding their property taxes.  This letter is giving you fair warning that your will lose your home if you don’t pay the amount stated.  If you have contacted the Wayne County Treasurer and have a payment agreement then you are fine. If you own property in Detroit then you have an opportunity to redress your grievance about your property tax if you feel that the amount is not right.

You have three opportunities to save your home, and lower your property taxes. December and January are the months to make the plan to appeal your assessment. On the first 15 days of February, the Board of Assessors allows a homeowner to apply to appeal their assessed tax amount. (ClickHere) for the details to appeal a City of Detroit Tax Assessment. To be successful at a hearing, you must do the following:
  1. Get a current appraisal of your home/property
  2. Keep up with your payment paperwork like receipts for payment and other maintenance work
  3. Find 3 homes that are comparable in size to your home and the selling price. If the homes sold for less than yours is appraised, then your taxes will be lowered.
  4. File an appeal before Feb 15th with the City of Detroit
  5. Get a hearing date from the assessor’s office
  6. A decision is rendered by the Board of Assessors
  7. If you are satisfied then you are done with it and the process ends here.
  8. If you are not satisfied with the decision you can appeal to the Board of Review in writing on or before the second Monday in March which is March 14,2016 to get an appointment.
  9. If you are not satisfied with the Board of Review's decision, then to protect your property rights, you must file an appeal with the  State of MichiganTax Tribunal

Please be aware that some cases like buying a home dirt cheap in an auction, your property taxes may go up. Property taxes are driven from values in property surrounding your home in the neighborhood. Otherwise, there were many smiles from homeowners who left the 8th floor of the Coleman Young Municipal Center because of their savings.

The second and third opportunities involve the certified letter from the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office.  When you turn the letter over to the back, you have two opportunities to save your home and, dispute the amount owed. The show cause hearing will give a home owner a right to dispute the amount owed or make arrangements to pay the balance. If you lose your appeal in this hearing, the next one is the notice of foreclosure hearing that will lay the groundwork for total loss of the home by March 31st, 2016.

However, if you make contact with someone right now, it will never get to this desperate situation of losing a home and becoming homeless. If you need help paying your property taxes (click here) for detailed information on what can be done.

For housing assistance these are some contact agencies that can help:

Wayne County Department of Human Services – DHS (formerly Family Independence Agency) can be contacted at (313) 456-1000. This is a general number from which you can obtain the phone number and address of your local DHS office. You can also simply go to your local office and apply for State Emergency Relief (SER). Offices are located throughout Wayne County.

Michigan Veterans Trust Fund, Wayne County Office, (313) 899-1162. If you are a veteran with at least 6 months of wartime duty, you may qualify for financial assistance.

Wayne County Veteran Affairs (Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund), (313) 224-1862. If you are a veteran with any wartime service and an honorable discharge, you may qualify.

Field Report 11/16 - Marijuana Laws in Detroit at the NWAC

by Richard C. Clement
Medical Marijuana Cardholder and Aide to Councilmember Pro Tem George Cushingberry Jr.

On Thursday November 16, 2015 at the Northwest Activities Center, the Citizens for Sensible Cannabis Reform held a meeting to address the proposed Detroit ordinances for Marijuana business in Detroit. CSCR members consist of the general public, marijuana patients, business owners, and government officials that support sensible and responsible Marijuana Laws.  Audience members were notified that if the ordinance is enacted into law as written, a ballot referendum will be initiated preventing it from being enforced will be filed. This ordinance was written to benefit a very small number of current store locations at the expense of other locations. If enough valid voter signatures are attained, then implementation of the ordinance will be suspended until the next general election in 2016.

While some in the audience chose to be very disrespectful of the speakers, the message was made very clear. Citizens will be given the opportunity to implement an ordinance that is sensible and, will treat Marijuana business like any other business in Detroit with only a 1000 buffer from a school.  All other provisions and proposals in the ordinances #21 and #64 will be repealed and made sensible. The citizens feel that they were being lied to by their government when provisions for a 1000 foot buffer around a religious institution was placed back into the ordinance after being removed by the City Planning Commission.  This was done after everyone spoke at public comment and left for the evening.

No other business in the City of Detroit or anywhere else gives a Church a 1000 buffer to do business, no other business is required to be 1000 feet from each other, and no other business is required stop operations at certain hours.  The felony provisions that prevent convicted felons from being a caregiver is another form of discrimination that creates joblessness.  Felons who have served their debt to society and have no intentions whatsoever to return to the system need to get some respect. Just look at Martha Stewart, Sam Riddle, Charlie Beckam, they are doing fine after being given a second chance and doing extremely well.

The issues of working hours, and drive through service shall be decided by the voters instead of a vocal minority that took the time to file a petition with the city clerk. We truly appreciate the service to the people by Councilmember James Tate. This is part of the job of an elected official and he is doing it very well. However, a decision of this magnitude that involves the survival of businesses, especially the African American owned ones like native Detroiter Melanie Faison of Miles Green Acers on Woodward and 7 mile, belongs with the people.

Elections Canada 2015 - We Endorse Justin Tredeau for Canada's Next Prime Minister

By Richard Clement

Vote Canada Oct. 19th
On October 19th, our friends across the Detroit River will be selecting a  new Prime Minister and, we hope they select Justin Tredeau. Justin's father was Piere Elliot Tredeau one of Canada's most successful Prime Ministers(wiki definition Click Here).

In 1969 he commissioned a study to decriminalize Marijuana so that people would not clog a corrections systems with small time drug offenders(click Here for Toronto Star News)

He also was a statesman because he could get along with everybody and treated people with respect. He is a change agent and, will be a good person for the Canadian people because of  his progressive stance on ending the War on Drugs against people.  He will spur better trade between the United States and, Canada through Detroit.  He will solve the differences with the Moroun's on the riverfront and, allow a creative repayment plan for the loan for the bridge by using Industrial Hemp as a commodity to retire the debt. (Click Here On Howe to Pay For A New Bridge)

We hope that the Canadian people  Elect Justin Tredeau, as Canada's next Prime Minister.

The Future of Cannabis in The Future of Detroit. Where are You?

by Richard C. Clement

In order for true Marijuana Reform in Detroit, the failed policy of the late Harry Anslinger must be put to rest. Marijuana is improperly classified as a Schedule 1 drug with no medical value because people like Mr. Anslinger were paid off by an industry who wanted to use wood for paper instead of a durable product of Industrial Hemp.  Mr. Anslinger was a bigot who hated African Americans so much that he was spreading false and misleading information that Marijuana made White Women desire sex with Black Men, made Black people think they are superior to Whites and, influenced religious leaders to say that Marijuana was created by the Devil.

It is this group think mentality that is the primary driving force behind the current policy that we are following today of incarceration for Marijuana crimes and the arrested development of the numerous potential benefits of using the Cannabis plant.

The following ordinance proposed by Council-member James Tate will remove 90% of all Medical Marijuana businesses from the City of Detroit through the bizarre use of zoning regulations.  If this becomes law, Medical Marijuana Businesses will be subjected to following restrictions in the City of Detroit.
  • Be at least 2000 feet away from each other “Controlled Uses Stores”
  • Be at least 1000 feet away from a School, Public Park, Church, or Religious Institution
  • Located only in Detroit Business Zones B4-B5 and M1-M5
Additionally, all drive through businesses that dispense Medical Marijuana will be eliminated.

This proposed ordinance is contrary to the will of the majority of the citizens who vote and patronize these places of business.  Yet these same patrons can drive up to places like CVS and Walgreens to get some of the most dangerous drugs that cause, heart attacks, suicides, and impotence. The numerous examples of Liquor Stores and Churches that are much closer than 2000 feet from each highlights the glaring contradictions of this proposed ordinance.

The singling out of drive through businesses as a public nuisance is troubling because if a drive through is good for Chase Bank then Pot should not pose any additional problems.  Will this extend to Marijuana Vending Machines in a private place? This proposed ordinance will force some MMJ owners to re-define their businesses as a place of sacramental worship as a religious institution to protect their investment into the re-construction of their property.  The religious argument to rezone Marijuana businesses may be against the tennants Religious Freedom Restoration Act that can be argued in a court of law.

Citizens who support these businesses are strongly urged to contact all of the elected leadership of the City of Detroit to voice your concerns and propose changes.  If the leadership does not listen then you the people have every right to initiate a people driven petition to create a NEW ordinance that will meet the people’s needs.

The real question is how is the City of Detroit and the residents going to benefit from the emerging Marijuana Industry?
  • First the proposed ordinance must demand that these businesses remain open and protected from prosecution by law.
  • The Ordinance will create a City Department of Marijuana Management that will manage business needs with a nominal application fee of $1000.
  • The Department will be responsible for managing the needs of the business owners with services including but not limited to the following:
  • The hiring and training of Certification Testers to evaluate and grade Marijuana being sold or transferred in the City of Detroit.
  • Providing a directory of Marijuana Businesses providing Faith Based Services and resources to Military Veterans, Retired City and Wayne County Employees with PTSD and other symptoms treatable with Cannabis.
  • If some businesses are performing faith based services to clients and customers you may be eligible for a religious exemption as a faith based institution performing services under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Examples of providing faith based services are:
  • Using Cannabis to treat Veterans and Public Servants with PTSD symptoms from serving in Government.
  • Examples of (but not limited to) military service, working as a teacher, firefighter, Police Officer, or Civil Service appointee.
  • Providing Rick Simpson Oil to Cancer and Autism patients or any condition treatable with cannabis.

If you feel that the propose ordinance does not fit your needs, the people have opportunity to enact a ballot initiative to allow the people to decide on the issue of Marijuana Policy in the City Of Detroit and, its direction in the future of our City.

If you are a patron of any Marijuana Business and, want to see the revenue from Marijuana sales and manufacturing benefit the people. Then we are urging you to do the following:

  1. Supporters of Marijuana must call and have meetings with your City of Detroit Elected Leadership to voice your support or opposition.
  2. Propose fair and equitable guidelines for building reuse as not to discriminate or deny opportunities to improve the quality of life through, entrepenuership, apprenticeships and higher education.
  3. Be prepared to sign a proposed ordinance to clarify the existence and direction of Manufacturing, Medical and Recreational Marijuana in the City of Detroit.
  4. Register to Vote, Sign the MI legalize petition, and actually Vote.

The future of Detroit includes the benefits of using the byproducts of the Cannabis plant. Don’t let others who do not have the best interest of the people in mind determine the Detroit Future. Education grow academies and curriculum policy change in public education will expand the importance to the youth to pay attention in class instead of harassing the teacher and dogging the “guest” teachers. To protect all of the children, some students need to really quit clowning around and get serious in the classroom.  Especially in subjects of Biology, Science, Math,  Hortoculture , Electronics, Solar Panel Engineering, Manufacturing, Algebra, and Technology.  As far as music skills, learning how to play an instrument will carry youth a long way in the educational journey of life. For some it might lead to a nice career and pay your way through school at the same time.

The tactical use of Marijuana will create better quality of life with the creation of jobs in manufacturing of concrete for roads, drywall products for home constructions, create bio-fuel for City vehicles, more money for education, and a revenue stream for Wayne County and the City of Detroit.

We are one 2016 Presidential Election away from continuing the change or, going back to the failed policies of Harry Ainslinger that creates a thriving system asset forfeiture, incarceration for small amounts of Marijuana, building more jails to create more felons than fellowships, putting Canadian Citizens like Marc Emery back in a US Jail in Mississippi at the same time allowing Irving Rosenfeld to legally use Marijuana in all 50 states that is not grown at Alcorn State University in Lorimar MS but somewhere else, and so on.

Therefore it is imperative that you be a good citizen and peacefully petition our government to change the policy on Cannabis to improve the quality of life for the Citizens of the City of Detroit.

If not, then in 2017 President Chris Christie will open a drive through incarceration facility at the “newly completed” Wayne County Jail for Marijuana, while charging increased user fees at the local drive through, fast food restaurants.

One Year Later: While Everyone Was Watching Ferguson MO - Marc Emery Got Deported for Seeds

by Richard C. Clement

On behalf of the American People,
we apologize for this act terror
inflicted upon
Mr.and Mrs Marc S. Emery
by a few of our Government Officials
August 12th 2014 marks a one year anniversary of the deportation of Canada’s Prince of Pot, Marc Scott Emery via the Detroit Windsor Tunnel.  In complete bondage and while everyone was watching the events in Ferguson Missouri, Mr. Emery a Canadian citizen, was unceremoniously dumped off at the Canadian border by US Marshall's after being flown from a Louisiana holding facility.  Emery served four years in a US Federal Prison for the crime of selling Marijuana seeds to Americans and other International Customers.

(CBC Canada Reports the Return the Marc Scott Emery back to Canada)

Jodie Emery
He was extradited to the United States by the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the request of the US Drug Enforcement Agency for the purposes of stopping the Marijuana Legalization movement.  During his time in Jail many states like Michigan made Marijuana legal or have it in their State Legislatures to be voted on. Industrial Hemp is the law in Michigan so that people can manufacture products from the plant.

Nikes Paid for by American Taxpayers
After further review by US Attorney General Eric Holder, Marc was kicked out of the United States of America like Dolomite from San Antonio TX with a brand new pair of Nikes, $200 dollars, and a damn good meal. He was told he could never return again to USA.  He was flown from Mississippi in chains by Con Air and kicked off the plane in Toledo. He was driven from Toledo to Windsor CA where he was welcomed by a huge crowd of Canadians welcoming him home.

He was the ultimate example of forgiveness because he spoke very kindly of the American People and said "that there are a few bad apples among a very great people".  Marc Emery is now a felon in the USA and a registered voter in Canada. Mrs. Emery is an up and coming electable Woman in political office. Now and One year later, Canadian Citizens now have to power elect a Prime Minister to  change the direction of their government on October 19th, 2015.   Through a trade agreement with Michigan on Industrial Hemp Products, the loan from Canada to build the Gordie Howe Bridge will be paid off in weeks. We know that Riverside Park in Detroit would be finished long before any bridge goes up and become operational and that is why the City of Detroit went forward with the Moroun family.

The current Prime Minister Stephen Harper has engaged in a new Voter suppression method by banning all advertising regarding the national elections. Mr. Harper hates Cannabis with a passion. However and with the power of Social Media, this strategy will fail because there are 3.6 million Canadian Citizens that support the use of Cannabis.  This Voting Block has the opportunity to reshape the Office of the Prime Minister with people who listen to them.  We hope that they show up to elect leaders who are more tolerant toward things creating international jobs with Cannabis Products, instead of shipping dirty oil that does not create jobs.

Marc Emery Speaks on the Importance of Voting
Good Info for both sides of the border

In 2016 American Citizens will have to pick the next president to succeed President Obama.  We hope that the young people line up and, vote like they stand in line waiting for the newest pair of Nike Shoes.  Electing the wrong person like Chris Christie may get you put in a line for brand new pair of Nikes, just like the ones Marc Emery got for free.

Finally, Marc Scott Emery has earned the right for a Pardon and Complete Clemency from President Barack Obama before he leaves office.  When this is done, Mr. and Mrs. Marc Scott Emery are more than welcome to come back to the USA via Detroit over the Ambassador Bridge and, visit us as a free people.
