Can a Person Get Elected to Public Office After Being Falsely Accused of Sexual Misconduct? When The MeToo Movement Gets it Wrong, How Do They Make It Right?

    Can a candidate get elected by the citizen-electors after resigning from office after being accused and acquitted of sexual harassment in a court of public opinion and acquitted in a court of law? Can a disgraced former Detroit City Councilmember Pro-Tempore be elected to Mayor in 2025? In 2024, 2025 and 2026, a new election cycle will take place in America. Stating from the 2024 election for President and United States Senate for Michigan, the 2025 statewide election for Mayors, City Council members and Clerks, up to the 2026 midterm election will we see more politically timed accusations of sexual misconduct that eventually get proven false after the election cycle is over.

Other males such as entertainers, journalists, businessmen, felt the wrath of the MeToo movement also. Somewhere along the way of legit allegations, the MeToo movement was hijacked by grifters and political operatives who had ulterior motives for political power and financial gain.  The list of the accused starts with former Senator Al Franken of Minnesota, former State Representative and Detroit City Councilmember George Cushingberry Jr, and President Joe Biden.

Al Franken was a Senator from Minnesota that resigned under pressure from colleagues after a sexual harassment charge by Leean Tweeden a conservative talk-radio host and Breitbart News contributor. Ms. Tweeden accused him of forcing himself on her in 2006. She was able to find seven other women to support her allegation. Although both of them called for an investigation, the investigation never happened, and Al Franken chose to roll over and quit without a fight.   After further review of the allegations many of his Senate colleagues like Tammy Duckworth, Heidi Heithkamp, Patrick Leahy and others wanted to apologize for being suckered by Ms. Tweeden and her friends at Breitbart and Fox News. They all said that he should have stood up and fought the charges in front of the Senate Ethics Committee

President Joe Biden was accused of sexual harassment by a former employee by the name of Tara Reade, a law school graduate who worked on the staff of Senator Joe Biden. She obviously had a simmering beef over the years with him and plotted to derail President Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.  Unlike Al Franken, Joe Biden stood up to this woman’s baseless charges that she could not remember the details of being sexually harassed and, is a female version of current US. Representative George Santos (R-NY), who is a proven fraud and a candidate for treatment for mental illness. Ms. Reade is a grifting opportunist going on news outlets like Fox with Tucker Carlson and Megan Kelly with her allegations of sexual harassment looking for a quick buck. Her case was so flimsy it was quickly dismissed by the voters in November 2020 by 81 million votes for President Joseph Biden.

George Cushingberry Jr. is a retired State Representative and former member of the Detroit City Council from January 1^st, 2014, to December 31^st, 2017. In May of 2017 he was accused of sexual harassment by former staffer Cleo Wiley after being released from her job on the staff of Councilmember Cushingberry. She proceeded to sue the City of Detroit in State and Federal court and was successful in denying Mr. Cushingberry a 2^nd term with City Council by a surprise defeat in the August 2017 primary election.  When you thought that things were done, Mr. Cushingberry decided to run for State Senator in 2018. Just like running the same play again in a football game, the charges of sexual harassment from Ms. Wiley appeared in the Detroit Free Press and Fox News. His lead quickly vanished, and Mr. Cushingberry was unsuccessful in his bid for Michigan State Senate. 

On March 11, 2020, US District Court Judge Marianne O. Battani dismissed all Federal charges against retired Michigan State Representative and former Detroit City Council-member George Cushingberry Jr. In a 23-page ruling, Judge Battani ruled that Cleo Wiley did not have sufficient evidence of sexual harassment and, was not entitled to protection under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as an Independent Contractor. On April 16th, 2021, a sad chapter for the City of Detroit came to a quiet end when Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Dana Hathaway dismissed all State of Michigan charges of sexual harassment and, wrongful discharge alleged by Cleo Wiley against George Cushingberry and the City of Detroit. Judge Hathaway agreed with the decision of US District Court Judge Marianne O. Battani that charges brought by Wiley had no grounds and lacked credibility.

At the same time that Matt Lauer, John Conyers, Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby were getting crucified by the Me-Too movement, former President Donald Trump was the ultimate pimp and abuser of many women. All of the sinful acts included sex and paying them off with hush money and, you did not hear one objection from anyone within the Me-Too organization.

After further review of the Me-Too accusers, each one of the accusers filed their actions for maximum leverage to shake down target of their wrath.  In each instance, the timing of the filing of charges occurred during political campaigns for election or re-election to damage them at the ballot box.  If they are successful, the accuser gets a nice payday. If not, the accuser is still successful if the target of the accuser’s wrath fails to get elected to public office.

When the information is proven false in a court of law, the accusers and their legal team blow away like clouds in the sky passing by on a beautiful day knowing there will be no repercussions for the filing of false police reports and their actions in the name of vengeance. 

Vicious slander by select right-wing biased news organizations make you ask what someone can do about the damage of false information?  In the case of entertainers like Matt Lauer, Johnny Depp and Dr. Bill Cosby, the accused have the option of suing the accusers and news outlets in a court of law. Politicians who have self-confidence can take the chance of running for elected office again or, choose to raise the white flag to surrender.  As of this writing an exploratory committee is being proposed to explore the possibility of Mr. Cushingberry elected to the United States Senate in 2024 or, Mayor of the City of Detroit in 2025.

Will we see more accusations by people of sexual harassment for political or financial gain? ABSOLUTELY YES! Before the next election cycle in 2024 and beyond, the accusers must be exposed as opportunists who strike at the right time for monetary gain or to damage a campaign to benefit another candidate. Sadly, these bogus allegations take away from legitimate complaints of sexual harassment forcing good people who would make great public servants and entertainers go into hiding mode and never be heard from again. It’s beyond time to look past the distractions and elect candidates on merit and the ability to accomplish tasks placed before them to improve the quality of life in the community.

"Did you know that I told Aaliya's family about R. KELLY'S marriage when I was guardian ad litem for her in Judge Freddie G. Burton's court?  However, Judge Burton reminded him that we were in a conservatorship hearing, not guardian because she was a minor who earned more than 5000.00.  He didn't think it related and was probably right at the time. After further review, it looks like it was the wrong decision.

My mentor and friend, the late John Stroger chair of Cook County Board of Commissioners, helped me get the marriage license from the Cook County clerk. Upon discovery there were 15 forged documents to say Aaliya was 18 and, had a job as messenger when she was really 14 years old. There were news segments played over the years on ABC/WXYZ and Fox that no one really paid attention to.

 

The recent conviction of Robert Kelly is a vindication of my diligent work to protect women and children in harms way. I am glad that Kelly was convicted and, it looks like the #MeToo movement finally got one right this time. "

Sadly, Mr. Cushingberry is no longer interested in practicing law after a long and illustrious career of being a public servant and consultant. He retired and peacefully living in Florida.

It has come to the Friend's attention that City Attorney June Adams is trying to undo a judgement against plaintiff Cleo Wiley in Federal and State Courts based on the reporting from this blog. This action if allowed by the law department gives the appearance of a payoff to plaintiff Wiley for damaging George Cushingberry Jr's  re-election to Detroit City Council in 2017 and, election to the Michigan State Senate 2018. The constant delays and rescheduling of this case was truly designed to discourage George Cushingberry from thinking about ever running again for political office.

On April 16^th, 2021 a sad chapter for the City of Detroit came to a quiet end when Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Dana Hathaway dismissed all charges of sexual harassment and, wrongful discharge alleged by Cleo Wiley against George Cushingberry and the City of Detroit. Judge Hathaway agreed with the decision of US District Court Judge Marianne O. Battani that charges brought by Wiley had no grounds and lacked credibility.

On Wednesday March 11, 2020, US District Court Judge Marianne O. Battani dismissed all charges against Detroit City Council Members and, former Detroit City Council-member George Cushingberry Jr. In a stinging 23-page ruling, Judge Battani ruled that Cleo Wiley did not have sufficient evidence of sexual harassment and, was not entitled to protection under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as an Independent Contractor. The court proceedings clearly showed that all Individuals named in her lawsuit did not support ANY of her claims of harassment and, Wiley’s status as an at-will employee was understood by both parties. 

All information reported by this blog on this case is factual regarding with data gathered from public documents, court transcripts and news outlets. The abuse of the #metoo movements goals and objectives by vindictive women is a form of 21st century prostitution, a jobs program for starving law firms and, cheap thrills for rouge news organizations that have a history of reporting delusional "news". Once charges are proven to be false, then accusers should face consequences in a court of law and public opinion. 

If the City of Detroit is allowed to commit this act of insubordination by not filing the final order as requested by Judge Hathaway, this would be another example of public corruption in City government. It would serve the citizens of Detroit best interest if the City writes a letter demanding a retraction from news outlets Fox 2, Detroit Metro Times, WXYZ, and WDIV for reporting gossip at legitimate news stories.

After further review of the #metoo movement, it seems that the only two people who are incarcerated for sexual harassment is a White Jew (Harvey Weinstein) and an African American (Dr. Bill Cosby).  While these men rot in prison, 74 million Americans voted for a President (Donald Trump) that harassed women, paid them off to be quiet and, incited a riot that cost people their lives.

This #metoo movement has been hijacked by women who are looking for revenge against a man running for office that is perceived to have too much power or make too much money. This practice of penis politics does nothing but take the profession of prostitution to a new level. Mentally disturbed women with a grudge use the #metoo movement at the behest of people running for elected office or someone looking for a promotion within an organization. 

The policy of penis politics has a detrimental effect on any organization. From President Joe Biden, Dr. Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Former Senator Al Franken, Gov Mario Cuomo and others, these charges only benefit the accusers for financial gain.  The accused victims that have given back to their communities get replaced by do nothing incompetent people that talk the talk, instead of walking the walk. At the same time, 86-year-old Carolyn Bryant Norman, the woman who lied on Emmitt Till in 1955 is alive and well in Mississippi not facing any prosecution at all. She is being hidden in plain sight by family members who have not been investigated by US Marshals for hiding a criminal.

The taxpayers of the City of Detroit are under attack again from a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Cleo T. Wiley in the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court, Wayne County Michigan. On Wednesday March 11, 2020, US District Court Judge Marianne O. Battani dismissed all charges against the City of Detroit, Detroit City Council Members and, retired State Representative and former Detroit City Council-member George Cushingberry Jr. In her 23 page ruling, Judge Battani ruled that Cleo Wiley did not have sufficient evidence of sexual harassment and, was not entitled to protection under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as an Independent Contractor.  The court properly ruled that anyone working for a Detroit City Council member under a personal services contract is an at will employee subject to immediate dismissal. 

On Friday March 13, 2020, attorney Robin Beth Wagner filed the same charges with 3rd Circuit Court Judge Dana Margret Hathaway using State of Michigan Elliot/Larsen discrimination laws. The schedule of events for the case per order of Judge Hathaway:

1. Witness Exchange Filing:  September 4, 2020
2. Discovery Cutoff Date:      October 23, 2020
3. Case Evaluation Month:    December 2020

After step three is completed, two events are required to occur by court rule. The first one is a settlement conference and, the second one is a motion to dismiss the charges. Unless a motion to dismiss is filed within 30 days or, a settlement conference for both parties is held within 42 days the case will proceed to trial. It is noted in the record by Judge Battani that allegations are dismissed at the state level because of similarities between state and federal laws. 

The pursuit of this lawsuit the plaintiff is another attempt to shake down the taxpayers of Detroit for money. During George Cushingberry's time as President Pro-Tempore of City Council, he was responsible for putting in rules to prevent attack by plaintiffs filing frivolous lawsuits against the city.  He was also responsible for installing automation for the City Parking Department in 2015 generating over $200,000 dollars in revenue within one month of implementation. Among other monetary gains for the city, assets like Detroit City Airport and Benjamin O. Davis Aerospace High School were protected from the plans of Mayor Mike Duggan to shut it down to build more buildings that we don't need, given the massive vacancy rate of existing structures in the city.

After further review of his four year term on the Council, the incidents regarding former Council member George Cushingerry regarding a "high speed" police chase, antique cars and, sexual harassment charges were falsehoods promoted by Fox 2 Detroit News, led by former reporter M.L. Elrick. 

The car chase was proven to be false, the "antique" car was sold much less than value than advertised and, the sexual harassment charges were dismissed in court. Out of respect for the great men and women of the Detroit Police Department, police brutality charges and filing false police report charges were never pursued against the officers. Instead, we directed Chief James Craig to lecture the two officers on their mistakes and, to never, ever treat another citizen like that again. The culmination of these falsehoods served as grounds for dismissal of Mr. Elrick from Fox 2 Detroit in December of 2019.

In summary, the #MeToo movement must be held accountable for promoting women to pursue frivolous lawsuits to extort money from individuals, smearing elected officials, influence elections of candidates for public office and, professionals in private businesses for financial gain. Extortion is a crime and harms women with legitimate claims. For that indiscretion, the accusers should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for extortion, filing false police reports and slander.

By February 2021, we truly hope that this fiasco is brought to a decisive end.

We Ridin with Biden - Endorsement of Joe Biden For President

Retired State Representative, City Council President Pro-Tem George Cushingberry Jr. and, his friends endorse Joe Biden for the next President of the United States. The sad outgrowth of the #MeToo movement is that it has become a virtual brothel for disturbed females with a grudge, looking for financial gain. For too long men have been victims of sexual harassment charges from women with issues and personal agendas.

Working as political operatives, these women file lawsuits that are timed to strategically damage the reputation of the accused. The timing is crucial so that if the charges are challenged in court, the court dates are scheduled long after election day. This is done to cover the accuser before the charges are determined to be false. For example harassment victims like former US Senator Al Franken and the late US Congressman John Conyers never got the benefit of due process in a court of law.

Franken decided to walk away from the job instead of fight. In Mr. Conyers case, the accusations led to complications that eventually took his life. However, George Cushingberry was fortunate enough to court and was acquitted of all charges. 

The damage to Mr. Cushingberry?

• He lost his re-election bid for Detroit City Council in 2017
• He lost he election bid for the Michigan State Senate in 2018

It is a form of art for evil women to accuse prominent men of sexual harassment when they are perceived to have a lot of money or power. The enablers of these accusers are looking for financial gain at the expense of a person's livelihood. Instead of fighting the charges, the accused victim chooses to resign under duress or retire. In a private business, the accused is fired from their employment and takes a settlement instead of going to court.

The monetary reward to these accusers are pennies to the dollar compared to the monetary gains the accused have brought to the citizens. Yes, the accuser's story must be heard by a jury of her peers. Once the allegations have proven to be false, then the accuser must dealt with in proportion to the damage caused. Allowing this behavior to continue is a poor example for young women to follow, turning them into hustlers instead of helpers.

Battani dismissed all charges against retired Michigan State Representative and former Detroit City Council-member George Cushingberry Jr.  In a 23 page ruling, Judge Battani ruled that Cleo Wiley did not have sufficient evidence of sexual harassment and, was not entitled to protection under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as an Independent Contractor.  The court properly ruled that anyone working for a Detroit City Council member is an at will employee subject to immediate dismissal.  When you accept a job as a legislative aide, you have a resignation letter already filled out.

A review of the record shows that Ms. Wiley took revenge against Mr. Cushingberry because he rejected her sexual advances after a brief affair in 2008.  When the affair ended, she continued to work for him until 2017. The record is clear in showing that:

• Ms. Wiley maliciously tried to include other women and, men who did not support her claims of sexual harassment.
• Ms. Wiley was involved in other relationships while pursuing Mr. Cushingberry for sexual harassment allegations.

The record shows that the timing of the  filing was done under the guise of the #MeToo movement for financial gain and, to prevent the re-election of George Cushingberry to the Detroit City Council in 2017 and, the Michigan State Senate in 2018. 

Like #metoo victim Congressman John Conyers, George Cushingberry Jr. has since retired from politics and practicing law. He is enjoying life again with friends, family and, thankful that this case is finally over.

There is good news for supporters of Marijuana reform this week. Signature collectors in Highland Park Michigan gathered 1343 signatures to allow the city to opt into State Marijuana law. Highland Park has 8553 registered voters and 10% or 853 valid signatures were needed to get the job done.  The City Council has two choices, either adapt the proposal as is on August 14th, or, let the people decide at the ballot box on November 6th.

In Hamtramck city leaders met with entrepreneurs who want to open facilities in the city. At the time of this writing, citizens were receptive and very supportive but no action was taken. In order to be on the November ballot a citizen petition initiative would have needed to be turned in by July 31^st, 4pm to the City Clerk.

As the Senate race in District 2 winds down, I am reviewing all of the mailings that I received from the candidates. It is very true that candidates are being sponsored by people who do not have our best interests at heart.  The most offensive one was from a paid progressive candidate from Hamtramck who told the voters to “Stop Reading” and “Start Changing” using news clips from mainstream media.  There is a difference between being progressive and being young and stupid. How dare a candidate tell people to stop reading with the massive low comprehension rate among our citizenry? Over 50% of applicants to jobs are rejected because they cannot read nor write. Shame on you Abrham Aiyash! 

This progressive aggressive campaign plan is fraught with people running who would rather read a tweet than a book for knowledge. Reality show politics does not cut it when you have to make and design policy that will benefit everyone.

If you cast your vote for George Cushingberry,  on August 7^th,  he promises that on the next day, he will introduce legislation declaring City Airport as a Historic District. This law will generate needed revenue with new and improved runways, commercial air service, and a flight training school. When it is all combined this project will bring more revenue than the current 75 marijuana provisioning centers in the City of Detroit.

The insurance industry auto rates are one of the main reasons people are leaving the scene of an accident, or not stopping for hit and run victims. Now they want to present a slate of candidates to cover their tracks if elected. Their policies in Lansing have contributed to the poverty of our citizens. People cannot get licenses and they drive without them and just forget about the insurance.  We are turning our police departments into insurance collection agents when people need to get back and forth to work. 

What has George Cushingberry Jr  Done for the people?
In 2014, Saved the city $20,000 month in costs by stopping the payments to a software company charging the Detroit Fire Department for software that did not work. Code Red was Code Wrong and a payoff for the Bing/Hollier administration

If you give George Cushingberry the chance to be your Senator, common sense insurance rates and regulation with a strong Attorney General fighting for the people will be the order of the day. George will stabilize inconsistent rates statewide. Red lines belong on Ice Hockey rinks instead of neighborhoods.

Given the rejection by Oakland and Macomb Counties on regional transit, one way to solve this problem is through a state and federal massive public works infrastructure project. This comprehensive project will  replace the sewers, water and, build a regional rail system that connects to Amtrak and VIA railroad in Canada.  This will create lots of jobs and money recirculating back into the community. A good example is the sewer separation in Lansing Michigan that created better roads after the new pipes were laid down. With the current occupant of the Office of the President of the United States, this will never happen.

A vote for Adam Hollier is a quick return to the failed Educational Achievement Authority that operated as a criminal business enterprise upon the Detroit Public School System.

The victims of the crime are the Children and the integrity of public education. From the first chancellor to principals of schools, the supporters of Hollier’s candidacy are counting on people not reading to finish the job they started on looting public education.  Just look at the great work they did with our schools like Benjamin O. Davis Aviation academy and Palmer Park (aka Hampton JR High School). The financial damage inflicted upon the Detroit Public School District by these emergency managers is inexcusable and the violators should be prosecuted. Hopefully our next Attorney General Dana Nessel can work on the Detroit School Board to restore the integrity to education.

As for voting for Brian Banks, c’mon man!  The 2^nd coming of Virgil Smith is running an expensive campaign that if he got elected, we would be without representation again because he would have to resign again because of looming legal problems of a life in prison for being a habitual offender if convicted again. It is clear that the insurance industry lobby is sponsoring him to divide the vote like last time.

Don't Get Confused by Watching Fox News.

This is no time to experiment with another bunch young so called progressive rookies endorsed by endless money of television commercials, mailings, bulletin boards and dazzling websites, sponsored by groups that do not have the people’s best interest at heart. Voting for Hollier, is another vote for the plan of the KKK. They support Aiyash because he does not want you to read and, Banks is sponsored by people that know he will be legal trouble again forcing him to resign or go to jail for life. We do not need a repeat of the Virgil Smith fiasco and the sexual harassment blitz sponsored by alt-right Fox News network. The City of Detroit will protect the taxpayers from frivolous lawsuits. We don't need a make work program for lawyers, we need a make work program for our infrastructure.

The August Primary election is a very important election to participate in. As in all elections the direction of your community and the quality of life is at stake. We are experiencing now the game plan of the opposition as we pursue your vote and trust to send us to Lansing to get the job done. The insurance companies have contributed to the downfall of Michigan through outrageous rates and price fixing. This is the main reason people are running from accidents to avoid prosecution. We have City of Detroit leadership wanting to build more buildings on the grounds of Detroit City Airport shutting it down while there are massive amounts of buildings available to do what he wants.  We have people endorsing candidates who have aided and abetted in the creation of the Educational Achievement authority that was raided by the Federal Government for fraud.

When George Cushingberry Jr. gets to Lansing MI, this is what he will do.

• Implement Common Sense Insurance Rates
• Restoring Accountability in Public Education with caps on the creation of charter schools
• Re-Investing in the Mt. Elliot Development Project that includes a working Detroit City Airport for General, Educational, and Commercial use.
• Taxation, Regulation of Marijuana including expunging ALL convictions in Michigan.

For example, as a State Representative, George Cushingberry sponsored a bill for good times credit for non violent offenders. As a Detroit City Council member, he was responsible for the upgrade of Livernois Avenue through implementing grants for streetlights, sidewalks, and supporting local businesses on the Avenue of Fashion.

The Sexual Harassment and the manipulation of the #MeToo movement is the new strategy to sabotage political campaigns. Just like the Ebola crisis that disappeared after the 2014 election, the sexual harassment and other negative "news", we are fully expecting this play call from the opposition. Sexual Harassment is gender neutral and all legitimate claims should be investigated. We feel that the timing of the filing was to get maximum damage from the City of Detroit and to derail the Cushingberry campaign.  When you examine the record of the other candidates, George Cushngberry has the documented proof of getting the job done.

Bear Bryant was quoted once as saying "In order to catch a fast negro running the ball, you have to hire another one to catch them" because he finally acknowledged the fact that you needed to include the black players he did not want on his team.  Distraction politics is only going to carry you so far and blitzing the campaign with charges and innuendo will not work. 

Therefore do not be confused by watching Fox News, just screen out their blitz with your vote for George Cushingberry Jr.

Fact: 

• George Cushingberry Jr. still has his law license
• The traffic stop was deemed to be unprofessionally handled by two patrol officers who wisely deleted the tape of their misconduct. 
• We chose not to press charges against filing a false police report because we respect the men and women of the Detroit Police Department, especially the retirees. 
• We want an apology written to Sgt. Smith by media reporters for promoting insubordination because of race.
• The City's finances are no longer under the control of a State Appointed Manager under the direction of George Cushingberry Jr as the chairman of the Budget Audit Finance Committee.
• George Cushingberry Jr. is the ONLY candidate on the ballot who has supported the legalization of marijuana and has history and evidence to prove it.
• Will take on President Trump and Bill Schuette and scold them on their brand of exclusionary racist politics.

Don't get blinded by the blitz of bad news coming from media outlets like Fox and other haters.  Screen them out with your vote!
