NOTICE OF REPOSSESSION

On this date at 5pm, July 1^st,  2020 we the people are executing this action to restore the name of Dr. Ethylene Jones Crockett on the building at 571 Mack Avenue Detroit Michigan 48206.  Upon taking this action, we want the name and legacy of Dr. Ben Carson to be reassigned to one or more of the following institutions or programs.

•  The Dr. Charles Wright Museum of African American History
• Grants written in his name to improve programs within DPSCD like special education with a science concentration.

While we acknowledge his accomplishments as a doctor. His blatant support of policies that have harmed our nation is not reflective of the proud residents of Detroit who really care about people. This name change was done by a few people in Lansing who wanted to remove the history and legacy of people who fought against slavery, believed in aviation training for our children and, taught young people how to be doctors and humanitarians to their fellow citizens.  The appalling actions on the Covid-19 by President Donald Trump  supported by Dr Carson as the director of Housing and Urban Development is completely unacceptable to people who finance the Detroit Public School Districts two entities, the legacy district and the community district.

Their only goal was to loot the City of Detroit of its assets and spend the money on overpaid consultants and contractors who put profit over people. When we vote in August and November we are voting for change at the state and federal level. This attempt to re-write the history of Detroit and rob our children’s education will be stopped on August 4^th, and November 3^rd at the ballot box.

When you dump Trump and elect a new school board, Ben Carson’s name will be no more in District 4.Therefore, we are demanding that the current school board immediately remove the name of Dr. Ben Carson from the school and replace it with the people’s choice. Or face the consequences at the ballot box.

My maternal grandmother, Ethelene Jones Crockett, was born in 1914 in St. Joseph, Michigan and grew up in Jackson, Michigan. She attended Jackson Junior College and graduated from University of Michigan. She married George Crockett, Jr. who was an accomplished lawyer, judge and congressman in his own right, and they had three children (including my Mom!) before she decided to attend medical school at Howard University in 1942.

Grandmother Crockett served her medical internship at Detroit Receiving Hospital but completed her residency in a New York City hospital because no Detroit hospital would accept an African American woman. She became the first Black female Ob/Gyn in the state of Michigan in 1952.

She retired from active practice in 1972. In 1978 she became the first woman president of the American Lung Association. Unfortunately, she died later that same year.

My grandmother was larger than life. I loved her very much. It would tickle her to know that her junior college created an alumni award in her name. The Dr. Ethelene Jones Crockett Distinguished Alumni Award is awarded annually by Jackson Community College. Leonard Griehs won the award this year. Mr. Griehs is vice president of investor relations at Campbell Soup Company.

I just wanted to use this post to express gratitude to JCC for creating this award and to Mr. Griehs for winning it this year. Use this post as your reminder to give your Mom or Grandmother a call! Tomorrow is not promised to any of us.

The August Primary election is a very important election to participate in. As in all elections the direction of your community and the quality of life is at stake. We are experiencing now the game plan of the opposition as we pursue your vote and trust to send us to Lansing to get the job done. The insurance companies have contributed to the downfall of Michigan through outrageous rates and price fixing. This is the main reason people are running from accidents to avoid prosecution. We have City of Detroit leadership wanting to build more buildings on the grounds of Detroit City Airport shutting it down while there are massive amounts of buildings available to do what he wants.  We have people endorsing candidates who have aided and abetted in the creation of the Educational Achievement authority that was raided by the Federal Government for fraud.

When George Cushingberry Jr. gets to Lansing MI, this is what he will do.

• Implement Common Sense Insurance Rates
• Restoring Accountability in Public Education with caps on the creation of charter schools
• Re-Investing in the Mt. Elliot Development Project that includes a working Detroit City Airport for General, Educational, and Commercial use.
• Taxation, Regulation of Marijuana including expunging ALL convictions in Michigan.

For example, as a State Representative, George Cushingberry sponsored a bill for good times credit for non violent offenders. As a Detroit City Council member, he was responsible for the upgrade of Livernois Avenue through implementing grants for streetlights, sidewalks, and supporting local businesses on the Avenue of Fashion.

The Sexual Harassment and the manipulation of the #MeToo movement is the new strategy to sabotage political campaigns. Just like the Ebola crisis that disappeared after the 2014 election, the sexual harassment and other negative "news", we are fully expecting this play call from the opposition. Sexual Harassment is gender neutral and all legitimate claims should be investigated. We feel that the timing of the filing was to get maximum damage from the City of Detroit and to derail the Cushingberry campaign.  When you examine the record of the other candidates, George Cushngberry has the documented proof of getting the job done.

Bear Bryant was quoted once as saying "In order to catch a fast negro running the ball, you have to hire another one to catch them" because he finally acknowledged the fact that you needed to include the black players he did not want on his team.  Distraction politics is only going to carry you so far and blitzing the campaign with charges and innuendo will not work. 

Therefore do not be confused by watching Fox News, just screen out their blitz with your vote for George Cushingberry Jr.

Fact: 

• George Cushingberry Jr. still has his law license
• The traffic stop was deemed to be unprofessionally handled by two patrol officers who wisely deleted the tape of their misconduct. 
• We chose not to press charges against filing a false police report because we respect the men and women of the Detroit Police Department, especially the retirees. 
• We want an apology written to Sgt. Smith by media reporters for promoting insubordination because of race.
• The City's finances are no longer under the control of a State Appointed Manager under the direction of George Cushingberry Jr as the chairman of the Budget Audit Finance Committee.
• George Cushingberry Jr. is the ONLY candidate on the ballot who has supported the legalization of marijuana and has history and evidence to prove it.
• Will take on President Trump and Bill Schuette and scold them on their brand of exclusionary racist politics.

Don't get blinded by the blitz of bad news coming from media outlets like Fox and other haters.  Screen them out with your vote!

On April 30th, 2018, Dr. Cushingberry received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Harper Woods Library. George has been an active participant in the Prime Family Reading Time program because it is a commitment to pass on the power of literacy to our community.  Literacy sparks interest and creates a career for youth and adults in need of a change. The Case For Restoring The Name of Dr. Ethelene Crockett on High School at Mack and I-75 - Dr. Ben Is Not a Friend of Detroit

There are many Detroit residents who strongly object to the use of Dr. Carson's name on the high school located at Mack Ave and Interstate 75 in Detroit Michigan.  Dr. Carson is representing a man who is a wealthy bigot who should have stayed on reality TV. Dr. Carson himself has long since traded his Detroit Credentials for soul of devils who want to wipe out the history of  Detroit by renaming Detroit Public Schools to Academies and, the creation of unlimited numbers of charter schools.

Given the failure and the Voters outright rejection of the Emergency Manager concept, we are asking for a Federal Court order directing all of these appointed "overseers" cease and desist their duties immediately. From Robert Bobb to Darnell Early, the children still do not have toilet paper and the district went from a surplus to a deficit overnight. Getting Federal convictions of a few principals and a contractor is a pure show. Especially given the massive amount of  money that was squandered over the years by consultants and do-gooders from the State Legislature in Lansing. After further review of State Management we are left with evidence of  meaningless standardized tests and,  watered down programs for students.

Therefore and after further review of Dr. Crockett's credentials, the evidence is clear that her name should be restored to the high school and Dr. Ben Carson's be reassigned to an appropriate special education program within DPSCD.

Ethelene Crockett (1914 - 1978) Inducted: 1988 Era: Historical Group: African American Area(s) of Achievement: Medicine/Health Care

Dr. Ethelene Crockett was a Detroit physician who became well known as a community leader and humanitarian. 'She was involved in the betterment of society in areas beyond medicine. Her unselfish contributions of time, knowledge, energy and leadership served to rectify social inequality to help those whose need was immediate, and those who could not speak for themselves,' stated a 1978 New Detroit, Inc. resolution.

Dr. Crockett began medical school at Howard University when she was 28 years old, married to George W. Crockett, Jr., later a Congressman, and the mother of three children. She became Michigan's first black woman specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. For 35 years, Dr. Crockett practiced medicine as an outstanding obstetrician in Detroit.

Dr. Crockett was an energetic advocate for day care centers to assist working women. She frequently lectured on family planning and public health care. She directed the Detroit Maternal Infant Care Project from 1967 to 1970, and helped design and direct the Detroit Model Neighborhood Comprehensive Health Center. In 1980 the first Detroit Public Schools Vocational-Technical Center was dedicated in her honor as the career training center for the Health Occupations.

In 1972 she led the fight to liberalize Michigan's abortion laws. In 1977, the Detroit Medical Society selected her 'Physician of the Year.' She was the first woman to be president of the American Lung Association, the nation’s largest and oldest voluntary health organization. She served on the Detroit Public Library Commission and as an officer for the Michigan Cancer Society. In 1971 the Detroit Free Press cited Dr. Crockett as one of "nine of Detroit's Most Successful Women." She received the 'Woman of the Year' Award from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Beta Omicron Zeta Chapter in 1972. In 1973 the Howard University Alumni Federation, Washington D.C. cited her 'For Conspicuous Service to Her Profession and Community.'

Ethelene Crockett came of age during the Depression. A black woman from a poor family, she was able to go to college and then to medical school. "If you want something badly enough...and if you can communicate that desire to others...what you want can be had," were her words in explaining her accomplishments.
