Staying Safe from Covid-19 and Creating Jobs with Cannabis

#ImRollingWithGretchen

All of those people in Operation Gridlock are wasting their time trying to recall Governor Gretchen Whitmer. There will be no need to write tickets for congregating in a group because GM, Ford, and Hyundai are making more ventilators and test kits by the hour for Covid-19.

Fixing my damn street with Hempcrete is a saying that is catching on with some residents in the City of Detroit. There are too many pot-holes in county and local roads like Hamtramck Drive around the General Motors plant in Detroit and Oakland Avenue in Highland Park Michigan. With the use of Hempcrete to fix the streets, people will have better things to do besides trying to recall Governor Gretchen Whitmer. We the taxpayers have a lot of our money invested into the Michigan National Guard. Once mobilized, they could use the work administering tests for Covid-19 to all citizens by May 15th with a revision in the Federal Affordable Care Act to cover the costs.

#FreeGretchen

Instead of trying to recall the Governor, you would be better off getting her to sign all of the legislation that the Late Rep. Isaac Robinson got approved by the House of Representatives into law. That would include expungement reform for marijuana convictions and, amending the legislation with banning the use of marijuana against a prospective employee as a condition of employment. This is much safer than being on the capitol steps without masks and gloves from the danger of Covid-19. The major problem is Michigan State Senator Peter Lucido, who does not support the advancement of the legislation for the Governor's signature. To correct this problem you must contact his office daily and ask him to support House bill 5120 with the amendments for the Governor’s signature into the law of the land.

Website: Citizen Request Form for Gov Gretchen Whitmer
Website: Michigan State Senator Mike Shirkey - Majority Leader
Website: Michigan House of Representative Lee Chatfield
Website: House Bill 5120 - Expungement Rep. Isaac Robinson(D) 4th District

For the people who are going to the State Capitol in Lansing Michigan who know and don’t care that the Covid-19 is killing more black people than other ethnic groups, go straight to hell and have a good day. For the everyone else, be safe and wear a mask! Covid-19 is absolutely for real! Someone will get data right and develop a vaccine to stop this thing and Gov Whitmer will have more time to create jobs with cannabis. This is much more effective that a recall attempt.

With these changes, we can fix our streets with Hemp-Crete and, Make Michigan great again at the same time.

Rest in Power Isaac Robinson, Your Work Will Not Be in Vain

From a constituent of  Representative Isaac Robinson

We the people have lost our representative in Lansing. Isaac Robinson was a Detroit sports fan like the rest of us. You would see him in our neighborhoods and at Detroit Lions football games. This is a huge loss for us in District 4 and the State of Michigan. In his own way, Isaac Robinson is currently leading the charge to fight the corona virus.

He would have supported the fight by bringing aircraft into and out of Detroit City Airport(KDET) with gloves, masks, ventilators, and testing kits. These supplies would be rapidly deployed into the neighborhoods to be used at recreation centers like Lasky Rec and, church parking lots by licensed medical professionals. By utilizing City Airport, identifying a virus would be much faster so that a vaccine may be developed. Products manufactured and, shipped to hot-spots in the world from Detroit would help ignite an economic recovery that would benefit everyone. We feel his spirit saying to us it is time to use every asset available in the City of Detroit to bring a solution to this problem.

To manufacture the needed equipment you need people to make it work. In order to hire them they have to pass a drug test for #Covid19 and #Cannabis.  Given the need for workers to make the things we need, Rep Robinson would have asked for an executive order from the Governor to remove all penalties for testing positive for marijuana use as a condition of employment. This would accomplish the goal of stimulating the economy by removing another barrier to employment to anyone who wants to work.

Our needs in the District will never go away. The speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives is now in charge of our votes and, we need a voice in Lansing so that our voices will never be silenced.  From now until December 31st, 2020, we are in a war for survival with our leader in the wings directing the team. Therefore we the people must finish his work by making sure that the legislation he championed for gets signed into law.

Isaac's List
  • Expungement of Marijuana penalties from a persons record and, their use as a condition of employment.
  • Equity on Auto Insurance Rates
    • Statewide flat rate reforms
  • Fixing the Damn roads
    • Fix  our Damn street with Hempcrete!
      • Hamtramck Drive around the General Motors Plant. and
      • Oakland Avenue in Highland Park MI with the help of Senator Adam Hollier's constituents and friends
  • Preventing Hazardous Waste from being dumped in our neighborhood

Therefore take the time to contact Governor Whitmer and, all the Michigan legislators in Lansing Michigan while you are sheltering in place.

Call, email or click submit because we the people are tired of it.

We the people will get the work of Issac to the house of the law in the land by; hitting the home run, making the shot from the 3 point line, sending a one timer from the blue line, putting it in on a penalty kick or, scoring on a end run because, now is the time to get the job done.

At 12:00pm and on 4:20pm during the month of April 2020, make sure you transmit your website responses by clicking the submit button on the Governor's or Speaker of the Michigan Senate website contact form.  If enough of you click the submit button at the same time while you are sheltering in place, they will get the message loud and clearly.

Gov Gretchen Whitmer

Science and education go together because like any virus, whether its on a computer or a biological one it must be defeated.

Otherwise,
Rest in Power Isaac Robinson your spirit will always be with us.

GITCHO Vote On in August and November 2019 to Get Ready in 2020

By Friends of Cushingberry

"2019 Elections in Highland Park, Warren, Lansing and, Hamtramck are serving as benchmarks for the 2020 Primary and General election."

On Tuesday, August 6th, 2017 and, Tuesday November 5th, 2017, local elections will be held in many cities in the State of Michigan. Cities such as Highland Park, Lansing, Hamtramck, and others will be hosting primary elections for positions of Mayor, City Clerk, and Council seats. This is also the first election where same day voting rights are in full effect.

Therefore if you want vote on Tuesday, you are required to go to the Secretary of State's office FIRST, then drive back to your precinct to cast your ballot. By requiring a person to drive to a Secretary of State's office may be construed as a form of voter suppression.  SOS branch offices may have to have ballots at the branch to accommodate same day voters or, voters need to have the ability to register to vote at the precinct then cast their ballot.

Lt. Gov Gilcrest says
There will be no hidden figures in Voting or Census 2020 counting.

To solve this problem City, and County clerks must have tablets at voting precincts to allow people to register and cast their ballots, instead of travelling to a Secretary of State's office that closes at 8pm. In November of 2018 the voters wanted government that worked FOR the people. The people elected Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to make government more responsive to the people..

Under the leadership of Lt. Governor Garlin Gilcrest this small detail in the same day voter registration process will be addressed and solved with the use of technology. Lt. Gov Gilcrest currently serves as the highest ranking Information Technology professional in State Government. Innovations in voter registration and coordinating 2020 census data collection will have the backing of the executive office and legal protection by Attorney General Dana Nessel.

No Voter Left Behind!
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says let my people vote!

If your city is holding an election on August 6th, get your ballot now from your City Clerk or, be a test case for same day voting on primary and general election days in 2019. Now you really don't have an excuse NOT to vote. If you believe in a cause and want your voice to be heard, just show up and vote.  Foreign and domestic voting influencing is in full effect from Russia to Lansing and it will not stop. Facial recognition and deep-fake technology will be out to confuse the voters. The only way to combat this is to read and research a candidate and find out who is backing them, what are they priority issues, and prior performance. You can't be a person that was against Marijuana legalization and, show up months later to say that you support it.

This goes for D.I.N.O. Democrats(Democrats In Name Only) and others who have betrayed the public trust. Change is needed in the City of Lansing and the person to get the job done is Scott Hughes in Ward 1.  The City of Highland Park has the opportunity to opt-into Marijuana legalization on their ballot. A YES vote will allow the city to fix roads, open schools, and pay for a public school systems that was ravaged by looters and con men in the form of Emergency Management.

Yes people, 2019 is one year away from 2020 and, the time to practice your voting power is NOW!

Congratulations To Roy McCalister - Councilmember Elect District 2 - On to the Michigan State Senate

By Richard C. Clement - Legislative Aide to Council President Pro Tempore George Cushingberry Jr. - City of Detroit MI

After all of the results have been counted, we congratulate Roy McCallister for running an effective campaign to become the next City Council member for District 2.  Although our campaign fell short, we made a point of running as a Write In because of how the judicial system fumbled the ball and, rewrote new rules allowing Virgil Smith to run as a candidate. However, we have to deal with what was dealt to us by the courts and other things that happened during the campaign. On our way out the door, we can say that the City is in a much better financial condition than when we started.

George Cushingberry Jr. thanks everyone who voted for him in the Primary and then took the time to write his name down as a write-in candidate in the General Election.

He is and always will be supporter of the Medical Marijuana movement and is extremely glad that the voters had an opportunity to tell their City Council members and Mayor what THEY wanted with their vote.  The 60% vote by the people in favor of opting into the State of Michigan Medical Marijuana law should send a strong and direct message to anyone and anybody who wants to differ from the will of the people.

He is also proud of the work he did for the Fire and Police department regarding upgrading system technology, being a champion for people in Sherwood Forest requesting a Special Assessment for additional services and increasing the value of their property at the same time. In the Detroit Public Schools, the commitment to raise the literacy level of small children by reading to them is a mission for the Councilman.

We appreciated everyone who worked on our staff for the last 4 years. We hope they will do well in their future endeavors and learned something the experience.

Michigan State Senate District 2
Finally, George Cushingberry Jr. is not done with politics or District 2 as he will be running as a candidate for 2nd Senatorial District in the Michigan State Senate in the August 7th, 2018 primary. He is planning to replace Senator Bert Johnson as he is term limited and cannot run again.

Statement On City of Detroit Opting Into State Of Michigan Marijuana Law

By Richard C Clement - Marijuana Policy Analyst

We owe it to the Citizens of the City of Detroit to let them decide by ballot to opt into or, out of the State of Michigan's Medical Marijuana Law by December 15th, 2017.

The ordinance modification will open the door for inclusion of people of all backgrounds to become a part of this growing industry. Currently there are 984 liquor stores in the City Of Detroit and the changes will bring fair and balanced laws that people really want. By voting for change, Detroit and Michigan shall not be left behind financially in the Marijuana industry.

Exiting State Financial Control Is Thee Top Priority!!
When this happens, every thing else will have a line to follow through,
 fiscal responsibility and oversight!

The current ordinance has cost the City of Detroit $1 million dollars in lost revenue while other cities in Michigan like Garden City and Inkster are changing their local laws to cash in on the green revolution. As a City determined to exit State of Michigan financial control, new revenue streams can only help the situation get better to open schools and recreation centers in neighborhoods for example.

We applaud industry leaders like George Birko and Ronald Jones for organizing groups who have stepped up to the plate. Organizations like the Sons of Hemp does an excellent job of educating and enlightening people of color on the benefits of opting into the State law. One of the benefits is that on October 1st, 2017, all Firefighters in Michigan will benefit from the revenue of the Marijuana industry when 30% of all sale proceeds are earmarked for the First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund. When a firefighter with 5 years of experience files this application with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulation, it will suspend the employee’s workers' compensation claim against his or her employer.

Given the horrible conditions of our streets, a second look may be needed regarding the use of Industrial Hemp to make concrete instead of the junk we have on our roads now. The current ordinance was written, and promoted by interest groups designed to limit the number of facilities and, send customers from Detroit to other cities for revenue enhancement purposes.  This proposed ordinance will address the audacity of the people who do not live within 300 feet of a facility who come to Board of Zoning appeal hearings to object.

Through the entire process, it was very clear that Winfred Blackmon’s organization was working for the Whiteman. Because of their efforts, all of the African American business in the city owners were shut down and their customers being redirected to other cities. A glaring example was the first drive through in America, Natures Choice on Grand River Avenue that was converted from an empty Taco Bell restaurant. Through Mr. Blackmon’s efforts, the State Of Colorado and the City of Lansing MI have drive-through service while the Black Owned business in Detroit was shut down.

With Attorney General Jeff Sessions and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie wanting to revive the drug war, voting YES on changing the ordinances will help stop him from Arresting and Deporting Medical Marijuana supporters, just like what President Trump is doing to the Chaldean community. It is very important to contact US Senators Rand Paul, Al Franken, Gary Peters, Debbie Stabenow and Cory Booker to continue de-funding Jeff Sessions plan to revive the massacre at Rainbow Farms regardingMarijuana.

If you support sensible Marijuana Laws, then we strongly recommend that you register and vote this August and November for candidates who will support the will of the people instead of narrow interests of a few.

State of the Bud Report – Detroit Medical Marijuana Status Scoreboard

By Richard C. Clement - Marijuana Policy Analyst
and Legislative Aide to Councilmember Pro-Tem George Cushingberry Jr.

As of October 25, 2016 there was a reported 279 alleged locations in the City with 150 places remaining open and 133 that what went out of business.  There were 117 closure notices sent with 55 being shut down by BSEED. Currently, there are 263 active applications for a Conditional Use Permit from the City of Detroit. Only one application was approved for a permit to apply for a license to do business. The remaining businesses are in various stages of the process from Drug-Free zone exemptions, incomplete site plans, and hearings.

This anti-weed effort of a few has forced the City and the County to update the database of information on each parcel of land in the City of Detroit. On December 20th, 2016 new laws take effect regarding the manufacture, use, sale, transfer, and distribution of marijuana in the State of Michigan.  On January 20th, we hope that the will of the people be maintained throughout the process with the election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.  If there was ever a time for the respect of States Rights, the time is now!  Federal, State, and Local elected officials must respect the will of the people of 25 states who said yes to weed.

City of Detroit Medical Marijuana Link   www.detroitmi.gov/MedicalMarihuana

Judges must advise potential jurors of the right of Jury Nullification because of the changing attitudes toward marijuana as a nation. Anyone selected for a jury can find a defendant not-guilty despite the instructions from a judge. Jury Nullification will communicate the outrage from citizens to prosecutors so that arrests for Marijuana possession will stop being prosecuted because it will be a waste of time and taxpayer money on a war on weed and, for-profit prisons.

We hope that self-policing in the marijuana industry with industry groups like Michigan Cannabis Development Association, Sons of Hemp, MI Medical Marijuana Association, and other cana-interest groups can keep the business in Michigan scandal free with equal opportunity to make it or fail, and attain capital like a neighborhood rec center, and a be a part of the growing agri-business that can re-invest the dividends back into the community.

State of Michigan Medical Marijuana Laws Implementation Plan 2016

We must improve our weaknesses and shore up our strengths to make Cannabis lose the boogey man status from the racist dogma of the late Harry Anslinger and J. Edgar Hoover. With a top to bottom legislative revamping of the zoning procedures, our city will be getting a new source of revenue along with other municipalities in Michigan. The new state law will allow the City to opt-in to the State Law and allow the citizens to design a new ordinance through the ballot initiative process and a vote of the people.  Then and only then, citizens on both sides of the spectrum can vote for a fair and equitable solution to the Marijuana question for the City of Detroit, Wayne County, and the State of Michigan.

The job growth opportunities in manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture will be endless from the act signed into law. All Firefighters in the State of Michigan will now be able to benefit from the use of marijuana for ailments like PTSD, Cancer, Stress, and other hazards of the job.  30% of proceeds from weed will go to Firefighters, 35% to counties, 25% to Cities and Townships and 10% to the State Police.  This action would dictate that employers public and private quit testing for it in pre-employment and accident investigations. Finally public employees like Firefighters, Police Officers, and Teachers will not lose their job if they get in an accident at work.

Like the entertainment industry, the revenue generated from occupied buildings could do nothing but help the community rebuild Schools and Neighborhood Recreation Centers like Johnson Center in Northwest Detroit.  It may even help church congregations of all denominations in various endeavors like treating heroin addicts by clergy with open minds. Not all clergy members are against Marijuana because there are some pastors who want to have a grow IN THEIR CHURCHES for their congregation to use for things like the building fund and neighborhood outreach.

As of this article writing, the software needed to make the license for an applicant is not operational on a local or State level. It is an abhorrent slap in the face to every Information Technology professional in the world for a government agency that cannot process online applications eight years after running one of the most profitable programs in the State of Michigan.  Whereas The City of Detroit can print information ID Cards for our guest citizens with their picture and information on it and take weed applications online at the same time.

We are strongly encouraging the State of Michigan to match the work that the professionals in Information Technology at the City of Detroit have demonstrated.  The State of the Bud in Michigan remains strong and optimistic that our elected officials respect the will of the people instead of the thrill of a few in elected positions who want to use a lame duck excuse for their own special interests.

Firefighters Fight Cancer with Weed Proceeds from Proposed New Laws

By The Friends of George Cushingberry Jr.

Starting September 22, 2016, firefighters in Michigan will benefit from Marijuana Revenue when 30% of all sale proceeds are earmarked for the Firefighter Presumption of Cancer and First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund. Marijuana advocates cheered this part of House Bill 4209 of 2015 because it is similar to the fight to remove all criminal penalties from the books for the plant. This is another example of how the plant can return a benefit to the community and save lives at the same time. When a firefighter with 5 years of experience files this application, it will suspend the employee’s workers' compensation claim against his or her employer.
The employer will file a counter claim against the applicant based on the following:
The statutory presumption may be rebutted by scientific evidence that the person was a substantial and consistent user of cigarettes or other tobacco products within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of injury, and that this use was a significant factor in the cause, aggravation, or progression of the cancer.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) may not implement the Fund until funded. Thus no activity on any submitted application may take place until that date. Any application received prior to that date will be logged in by date and time when received by our office.

If you have any questions on the administration of this fund, you may contact the Claims Processing Division at 517-284-8912. The submission of an application does not guarantee the right to benefits under the Workers’ Disability Compensation Act.

In order to submit an application the first responder must:
  • Be a member of a fully paid fire department or public fire authority and be compensated on a full-time basis,
  • Be in active service of the department or authority for at least 60 months,
  • Be diagnosed with any respiratory tract, bladder, skin, brain, kidney, blood, thyroid, testicular, prostate, or lymphatic cancer,
  • Be employed in the active service of the department or authority at the time the cancer manifests itself, and be exposed to the hazards incidental to fire suppression, rescue, or emergency medical services in the performance of his or her work-related duties,
  • First apply for and do all things necessary to qualify for any pension benefits to which he or she may be entitled.

Field Report - The Gordie Howe International Bridge Project Site Plan Review from District 2

By Richard C. Clement  - Friends of Cushingberry

In a meeting with Project Leader Timothy Miles of the DetroitEconomic Growth Corporation and Malik Goodwin of Goodwin Management Group, we discussed the progress being made on the construction and completion of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge in Southwest Detroit. The area will be forever changed and, money will be invested into restoring Historic FT Wayne as a National landmark. A Request for Quote for construction was issued by the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority who are the primary owners of the Bridge. The project is scheduled to start in 2017 and, be completed by the year 2020.  The Canadian Government is footing the entire bill at the tune of $2.5 billion dollars.  This loan is scheduled to be paid for in tolls over a 90 year period in 30 year increments.

Coming very soon the formal request for jurisdiction of the land (Right of Way) will come before the Detroit City Council. This will enable the start of condemnation and preparing the area needed to build the bridge with Customs and a Toll Plaza for Cars and Trucks. With projects like this coming into the city, there should be a lot of opportunity for contractors to apply for these jobs and, getting a new career in the skilled trades if someone desires to. Therefore, it is imperative to elect people who will fight for workers who need jobs, can perform the duties of the job, and has the community’s best interest at heart. It is also important to have oversight over the contracts being let for this project.  If it takes a real time, online financial display of a summary balance sheet for public viewing of the project then so be it.

Windsor/Detroit Bridge Authority Org Chart

With this investment we can have our children swinging hammers on nails instead of on each other and going to jail.  The construction trades are awesome if you like to work with your hands and build things.  If there is any leftover cement, a new line of the people mover could be extended from Downtown to places like Motor City Casino all the way up the Lodge Freeway to Farmington Hills, Novi, and Wixom. After viewing the construction of the current Detroit People Mover, the raised rail along the Lodge is the way to go because it is not that difficult to build a raised rail line that rides OVER the road. The people in the Train can look at everybody stuck in traffic while they take their ride home or have to drive to work in the same direction. Councilmember Pro Tem Cushingberry is demanding that Detroit Residents get a fair shot at working on these types of projects.

Site Plan for Gordie Howe International Bridge
Detroit Side.

If we want this bridge paid for within our lifetime, then additional funding sources need to be considered.  The election of Prime Minister Justin Tredeau has changed the ballgame on Marijuana because on April 20th, 2017 recreational Marijuana will no longer be a crime. This will give an opportunity for settlement to the Ambassador Bridge Company by allowing Duty Free Cannabis sales on both sides of their Bridge with an exclusive contract between both countries. This action will allow the bridge owners to invest into replacing the 80+ year old span with a new one and pay for Gordie Howe Bridge with a one time exclusive license fee. Products imported and exported across the border made from Industrial Hemp will pay for the $2.5 billion dollar loan in 30 days instead of 90 years.  This would take one signed agreement between the Canadian Prime Minister and the President of the United States to allow trade across the border.

Otherwise we are encouraging citizens to stay abreast and be aware of opportunities for economic growth and stability with the construction of the new Gordie Howe Bridge.
