Do Not Reward the Educational Achievement Authority With Your Vote

Press Release:

Education Sub Committee of
the Committee To Elect George Cushingberry Jr.
State Senator District 2

A Vote for Adam Hollier is a Vote to return to the EAA

Electing Adam Hollier as a State Senator would be a reward and a pat on the back for supervising the dismantling of Detroit’s public schools, especially workers’ rights and health care. State Employees do not need any more abuse from the failed polices of financial mismanagement and fraud. With the assistance of Emergency Managers, the biggest Ponzi scheme ever was inflicted upon the people of Flint, Benton Harbor, Hamtramck and, retirees from public service.

In Detroit and under the leadership of former Mayor Dave Bing, Adam Hollier supported the implementation of the Educational Achievement Authority, an organization that made the Detroit Public School System woefully inept.  During his tenure schools buildings were raffled off to the highest bidder and assets like computers and aircraft were sold to charter schools in Grand Rapids.  Student test scores were unchanged while chancellors, principals, and un-qualified teachers were forced upon students for financial gain.

Aviation Careers Lost at Benjamin O. Davis will now be Found.
and students will have job opportunities.

Despite the vociferous complaints from teachers and students, Bing and Adam Hollier managed to persuade two Detroit Democrats (Harvey Santana and John Olumba) to agree to expand the EAA by adding 50 more schools.  The result of this action is what you have now, Schools like Palmer Park Academy (The old Hampton Jr. High School) with ceilings falling in because of neglect. Cass Tech High school football scoreboard missing lights, new buildings being constructed when they were not needed and other atrocities committed against the children’s education.

George Cushingberry Jr. is responsible for the new development at Riverside Park

There is no coincidence that some of the same people and organizations endorsing Mr. Hollier’s candidacy were willing participants in the destruction of the Detroit Public Schools. Some of them are still under investigation by Federal Authorities for the damage done to young minds through financial neglect. By voting for Adam Hollier, this will be like putting Bing back in charge so that the complete destruction of Benjamin O. Davis High School for Aviation careers will be complete and, the guilty in Flint MI will be granted pardons by the Governor in the lame duck session.

We helped Sativa Detroit on 8 Mile and Santa Barbara shut down and move to Ann Arbor
10 jobs lost and a drop in sales at the Coney Island..

There is no coincidence that some of the anti-marijuana clergy in the community is endorsing Hollier’s candidacy. Their only job was to help businesses open up in the suburbs.  Business entities outside of Detroit used these people, fake news of crime and, the 80 year old myth on marijuana to create jobs at the expense of City residents.  Combined with the poor transit system that is currently in place and, the missing revenue from payroll, rent, and taxes, cost Detroit $3 million dollars and counting, by seconds.

To fix this mess, on June 22, 2018 until Nov 6th, 2018 mark your absentee ballot for George Cushingberry Jr. State Senator District 2 TWICE!  One vote to fill the partial term and, one vote to fill the 4 year term.

When you complete your vote, you will know that on August 8th, the people in District 2 will have a voice in Lansing. George stands for jobs, justice, and equal opportunity for all who want and desire to improve the quality of life. We must finish the job of creating a new aviation education complex with firefighter training facilities by a new aviation division of the Detroit Fire Department. The concept of a statewide flat rate auto insurance will be an action plan on the day he accepts the job.  You should not have to park your car in Ohio to get a better insurance rate.

George Cushingberry Jr feels that we must remain committed to improving literacy in our community. This commitment must include the restoration of the cuts to education at all levels. Support Teachers Everyday!!!

The time is now, register and vote, all day long.

Vote YES on Marijuana Nov 7th, 2017 Why the Detroit Free Press Got It Wrong

By Richard C. Clement - Marijuana Policy Analyst

The following language is Public Act 281 a new State Law regulating the Marijuana Industry in the State.  After reading the language, Council President Pro-Tem George Cushingberry Jr. is recommending a YES vote on both proposals. The Marijuana excize fund will be maintained by the Department of Treasury. The main beneficiaries are the County Executives, County Sheriffs, and Michigan Firefighter professionals. County Executive Warren Evans will get 30% of all revenue from sales. Another 30% goes to the first responder presumptive coverage fund and, is exclusively for firefighters with 5 years of service to address cancer concerns. In Wayne County, it will be Bucks for Bennie as the Wayne County Sheriffs Office will prosper from 5% of all sales and, the county will be in better shape financially.

Free The Weed for the Money I Need - Sheriff Benny Napolean  -lol

With Roy McCalister and Virgil Smith, you will get two NO votes, allowing the practice of Green on Green crime to continue between potential Marijuana business owners. A businessperson opening up a Church to prevent the opening of another facility is un-godly and insults the real meaning of religion. In the current ordinance, there is no provision for religions like Rastafarians and that has to change also. Finally there are outside interests who want a NO vote so that Detroiter's have to drive to Macomb County for their medicine.

However, there are many pastors in Detroit that support the YES vote but feel intimidated by others even though it is discussed in Genesis 1:19..

Read the language for yourself, Vote YES twice and, Write In George Cushingberry Jr. the man for you in District 2.  (State and City)

Progress on The Avenue, New Business In District 2 - Questions and Solutions

By Richard C. Clement

With the addition of the Bucharest Grill on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion, parking has become an extreme priority. To solve that problem a building or two can be removed, including the median in the middle of the road.  What are your thoughts on a pilot project to allow for parking in the middle of Livernois with a bike lane protected with a smaller median?

The next issue is traffic enforcement to control the speeding and parking violations.  What are your thoughts on installing traffic strips connected to a camera to control the excessive speeding?

The camera would photograph licenses plates of offending vehicles for processing by the law.  The tactical use of technology would accomplish the goals of controlling excessive speeding, increase parking spaces, and generate foot traffic while revitalizing empty buildings at the same time.

If you are interested in doing something like this for the Livernois Avenue Of Fashion, please contact Council President Brenda Jones At Large, City Councilmember Janee Ayers At Large, and Council President Pro Tem George Cushingberry Jr District 2. The first three votes are very crucial to the cause of improving the quality of life of the neighborhoods.

With two or more additional Councilmembers supporting this effort, this project would be given a chance to address the needs of the business owners and the surrounding community.

Please contact a Detroit City Councilmember at www.detroitmi.gov/Government/City-Council by voice, email, and In-Person on this important matter.

Virgie Rollins
14th Congressional District
We are thankful for the support in removing Virgil Smith from being endorsed as the candidate over George Cushingberry Jr. for Detroit Council District 2 by the 14th Congressional District. While we do support felons getting jobs and getting first, second, third, and fourth chances, this is not the job for him.

We are on a path to undo the damage of Emergency Managers and State Supervision of our city. Neighborhoods are composed of a community of schools and recreation centers that serve children and senior citizens.  Experience and knowledge is a crucial element in leadership and for the Detroit City Council, George Cushingberry has been a team player and catalyst for change.

We cannot afford to go back to the days electing carnival barkers and puppets manipulated by State and Federal legislators who don’t give a damn about our city. Doing this would be a fatal mistake if you do not re-elect George Cushingberry. He has demonstrated that he will fight for the people through measured protocol and tactical implementation of plans. Some of the overt examples of what has been done already are Recreation Centers and City Airport expansion.

Join us as we reflect 50 years after the Detroit Riots on the Livernois Avenue of Fashion by attending one or more of our events listed on our website starting June 1st

If you would like to support the Re-Election of Councilmember Pro Tempore George Cushingberry Jr. with an endorsement, please visit our website at www.cushforcitycouncil.com  and click on the Endorsement page link.

Field Report: The Proposed Sale of Johnson Recreation Center and Higginbotham School Property

By Richard C. Clement - Legislative Aide to
Councilmember Pro Tem George Cushingberry Jr.

The Former Johnson Recreation Center has been listed by the City of Detroit for a sale price of $1,000,000 dollars on November 24th, 2017. According to the realtor, this will be a unique development opportunity for an interested buyer.  The Higginbotham Elementary School property is for sale with a $500,000 selling price.   This land has historic value to the City of Detroit because it was named after Joe Louis during World War II and, the first place where African Americans could learn how to swim in the 1950.

DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOL SITES FOR SALE

We know that this Recreation Center has a major stake in the development and redevelopment of the youth within the community. A working recreation center increases the property value in the neighborhoods and encourages growth.  Closed schools are a sin to education and, the old Higginbotham School property could be unique development opportunity for an entrepreneur as a senior citizens home to a satellite community college.

Former Johnson Recreation Center
Public comment is welcome on this matter and encouraged by Councilmember Pro-Tem Cushingberry and, we will be notifying you of any activity on these property.  We want to thank Hazel Fludd of Garden Homes Community Organization and, Dwight Smith of the 8 Mile Old Timers Club for staying on top of this issue because it is a pressing concern of the residents, especially within 1.5 miles of the property.

As of this writing, the University of Detroit Jesuit High School is making very serious offers to acquire the land to expand football practice facilities.  If you are interested in purchasing the land, then you are strongly recommended to contact the realtor for more information and, you City Council Members to voice your concerns.  Currently both properties are listed as a special purpose land use sale.

The final sale must be approved by the full 9 member body of the Detroit City Council.
